Hi Devin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello, my name is Devin Johnson, owner of Purpose Luxury Vehicle Rentals, LLC. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Memphis with a business marketing degree. I grew up in a predominantly entrepreneurial family and always knew that I wanted to own my own business.
Upon graduating, I worked in corporate as a marketing coordinator for two years. However, my heart was always calling me to venture out and start my own business as an entrepreneur. After long nights of thinking about what interested me most, I decided to start with my fascination with cars.
From there, I learned about the car rental business through research and teachers like Mike the Business Man and Matty J (Youtube) and found out how I could become my own boss while also driving and enjoying the cars of my dreams. I also diversified my portfolio as a licensed insurance agent/owner of Johnson Health Life and Investment Services, LLC. I am a licensed health insurance agent in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle and obstacle was myself.
Many times I overthought and talked myself out of becoming an entrepreneur. As a student fresh out of college it was hard to let go of a job that was providing consistent income at the time to chase becoming a full-time entrepreneur.

Persistence is key to success as an entrepreneur.
