Today we’d like to introduce you to Markila Milam.
Markila Milam
Hi Markila, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Memphis native. I am the third of four children and the only girl. I truly enjoy spending time my family and friends, reading, playing board games, and traveling. During high school life, I observed my father, Larry Wilson, a retired Police Lt., and my mother, Ernestine Wilson, a retired Respiratory Therapist, tirelessly giving back to the community. It was at that moment I realized my desire to inspire others, leading me to embark on my journey in the healthcare field.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life’s journey is rarely a smooth road. Along the way, I faced challenges that fueled my desire to make a difference. The passing of my grandmother and the experiences with those involved in her care stood out as powerful motivators in my pursuit of making a meaningful impact.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my role as a Practice Manager for Regional One Health, I handle the oversight of various Med-Subspecialty clinics, such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, & Pulmonary. Additionally, I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors for MHCE, elected by my peers. While healthcare is a significant part of my life, my proudest moments stem from being a devoted mother to my sons, Parker & Peyton.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck, for some, is a guiding force; for me, instead, I see the impact of opportunities and the support system that shapes our paths. The unwavering support of family and friends have undoubtedly played a crucial role in shaping my journey. It’s often the combination of hard work and the support network that brings about success.
