Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Hill.
Hi Audrey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We originally began creating low-carb snack gift baskets for individuals with diabetes. During my tenure as a nurse, I’ve had the opportunity to care for, counsel, and encourage many diabetics including my relatives. When COVID-19 arrived and things slowed for a while, my very creative daughter began baking Ooey Gooey cookies.
Initially, she only baked for family and friends. Subsequently, we began taking orders from several people including work groups, churches, and various organizations. Her cookies were so delicious that the Owner of JD Wing’s 2 Go allowed her to sell them from his restaurant. After that opportunity, we began vending in various places around the city including the Farmer’s Market at the Agricenter.
The growth happened pretty quickly and she began creating and preparing more treats such as flavored popcorn, cake pops, and hot cocoa bombs and I began creating all-occasion gift baskets and gift sets including closing and housewarming gift baskets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, I cannot say that it has always been a smooth road. Some of the struggles include locating local places to vend with heavy foot traffic.
Inclement weather is a huge challenge being that we are not always indoors. Another challenge that we have encountered is inflation. We are attempting to keep products affordable while also being cost-effective.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a nurse for about 19 years. I have worked with geriatrics, pediatrics, med-surg, psych, intellectually disabled, and public health. I have a heart for our community and often participate in health fairs, volunteer events, and community giveaways.
I am most proud of being able to give back to our community while training and preparing my autistic son to excel in great customer service. What sets our business apart is the fact that we provide a variety of cookie flavors and quality products at affordable prices with excellent customer service.
What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing others happy around me.
I have always fostered an environment of love, joy, and peace. It brings me great satisfaction when I have helped in any way to bring a smile to someone else’s face.
