Hi Dereka, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as an entrepreneur, content creator & model was challenging wasn’t but worth it. Everything God has put me through had an outcome worth waiting for. I started my journey during my last high school and early college years. Being a young adult with little support during college pushed me to hustle for what I needed and wanted to have for myself. I picked up hustles like doing hair, designing clothes, and selling cosmetics to my colleagues and the people in my community. These things helped me keep money in my pocket and also helped me invest in the things I loved to do. The more I hustled and saw the profit, the more I fell in love with what I did and grew to create a passion for it.
Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
Entrepreneurship has never been easy, and I’m sure it will never get easy the further you go, which is fine because when you have faith in God, nothing will stop you from climbing to the top. I have always been independent, which made it a bit harder but also made me appreciate my wins more. As I went through the trials and tribulations & took losses, of course, nothing stopped me. It only made me stronger and pushed me to go more toward my destiny.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business/self-employment consists of braiding hair for adults & children for affordable prices, especially for college students, single moms, and more. I also design clothes like birthday outfits and special occasions and events that are special to my customers for affordable prices. I’ve created my lash line and hair growth oil to make the people in my community feel beautiful and confident. Not only do I invest in myself & my business with the money I make, but I also invest in others around me, like college students, women’s shelters, nursing homes & more. I am proud of how happy I make my customers feel and how far I’ve come. I plan to continue perfecting my craft in ways that will create a smooth flow & financial revenue for myself.
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
Luck has played a significant amount in my life and business because sometimes, in the business world, things may not always turn out the way you want them, especially when you’re dealing with people. Everyone’s expectations differ; some are more than others, so you must be careful with what you do or say when running a business because it may affect people differently.
