Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Smith.
Hi Nico, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing comedy in 2018, my junior year at Tennessee State University in Nashville. I did it one night at a bar, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I never really took it seriously until I got diagnosed with epilepsy in 2020, and there weren’t many other options out there for me. I couldn’t work, so I decided to put my all behind comedy and see where it goes.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is having epilepsy during this whole process. From the seizures to forgetting material, to being sensitive to light, and having to be on alert for anything and everything just from a simple health condition is a significant struggle for me. However, it makes me enjoy the journey even more, not to mention sometimes having bad comedy shows and knowing it’s also a part of the journey.

I am an actor specializing in film and stand-up comedy.

Put yourself out there and not be afraid to speak to people.
