Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Sonal Barad.
Hi Dr. Sonal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have helped postpartum pregnant women for 18 years. However, when we moved to Memphis, I would step back, spend time with my family, and stay home. I never thought I would be pregnant at 40 with a third one. It was a bit scary, but I told myself I knew what to do. I was going to make an excellent plan for my birth and recovery. I only found out there are no such quality services here in Memphis. I had a complicated pregnancy and traumatic birth; I couldn’t get help when I needed it; that’s when I decided that I was going to bring that quality care to the community here. And when the baby turned 1, I started my practice.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, it has not been smooth; it’s a new town. I don’t know anyone and don’t see the community (which is very different from Nashville). It was a big risk.
As you know, we’re big fans of Beyond Core Wellness. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
I help recover your core after you have a baby, any surgeries or injuries, or if you have bladder or bowel problems. I mostly see people when they have been to several other clinicians and medical doctors, and no one can figure out why they are hurting in the core area (anywhere between your ribs and your pelvis). I deliver results, and you will walk out of my appointment much better than you walked in. I am very proud of my clinical skills and problem-solving skills. I am known for fixing your issues and finding the root cause.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
There has not been luck but courage and determination.
