Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Cagle.
Hi Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have a graphic design/event planning background and have worked in corporate my whole life. My husband is an entrepreneur and has 35+ years of landscape design experience. We have 4 children, ages 29, 21, 11, and 9. During COVID, we bought this old vacant building in Rossville, TN, and dreamed of using our skills and passion for design to have a home and garden design business. We strive to provide a hometown feel and personalized experience for every client, big or small. We love customizing something beautiful for our clients, whether it’s a wreath for your door, a beautiful gift for a friend, or your landscape or hardscape dreams. We love getting to know our customers and providing customized service.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a brick-and-mortar business during Covid was a challenging task. There is so much to think about it. Getting customers was demanding at first. As people started hearing about us via word of mouth and social media, business picked up, and today, we are also online. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but staying consistent and always thinking ahead is imperative to growing a business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a local home and garden store that offers custom landscape and hardscape design services. We have a gift shop with Mississippi-made pottery, Big Green Eggs and accessories, locally made art and jewelry, baby and wedding gifts, and beautiful plants and flowers. We also have home decor and seasonal decor. What sets us apart is that we provide personalized service to each client. We can help you design your dream landscape, hardscape, or planters. We can also design a beautiful planter for your pots, or you can shop our gorgeous selection. If we don’t have what you are looking for, we will try to find it. We love getting to know our customers, and when you walk into our store, we hope you feel inspired and welcomed.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been creative and enjoyed art, sports, and traveling. I was a bit shy but have always been social. I am being able to start this business so that my husband and I can do what we love.
