Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecilia Fay.
Hi Cecilia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Cecilia Fay, and I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I founded Cecilia Fay Creative, a local creative firm for small businesses and entrepreneurs. I graduated from the University of Memphis in December of 2021 with a degree in public relations. I was coming out of an insane learning climate due to COVID-19 and decided to graduate a semester early. I spent the winter doing the typical job search that everyone does post-grad and got frustrated with how it was going. So, I decided to seek out other options, and through conversations with colleagues, I discovered corporate life was not for me. I quickly started freelancing after I knew I did not want to work a corporate job or in a PR firm. By May 2022, I was out on my own as Cecilia Fay Communications, and we recently rebranded as Cecilia Fay Creative in February of 2024.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest thing about this journey is figuring out the spaces where I belong and figuring out who my target market is. This journey has taught me that perspective is everything. If something is not a good fit, then something else will be. If someone does not like you or how your business works, then someone else will. I have learned to welcome the uncomfortableness of being the youngest in the room and sometimes the only woman. It looks different in every situation, but I have learned how to show up and prove myself.

Cecilia Fay Creative is a Memphis-based creative agency built for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives. We are passionate about telling our client’s stories uniquely and creatively, whether it is through branding, public relations, or social media. With our expertise, we help businesses and brands start the creative process from scratch. We value creativity, authenticity, and collaboration. Our Mission is to deliver an experience created and curated for you.
What makes us different is that we understand the unique challenges of small business ownership. You wear many hats and it can often be stressful so we make sure to build genuine and authentic relationships with our clients. By listening to their business stories and hearing their specific needs, we gain a deep understanding of their business and also who they are as people. When I say needs, I don’t mean “this business needs to post on Instagram more.” I mean, “Cindy, owner of a local boutique is raising 3 kids on top of running her store and does not have much Instagram experience so she does not post at all but she knows her competition posts at least 4 times a week.” We make sure to take into account more than the surface level of our clients needs. We also do this at an affordable rate for small businesses because we understand that budget wise, they are in a different boat than a large corporation or enterprise.
