Inspiring Conversations with Kirsten Goetzelman of Enso Wax

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Goetzelman

Hi Kirsten, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all got started with a podcast mic and a closet. No, really. I became a licensed Esthetician 12 years ago never dreaming of what I am doing today. Waxing was not something I felt passionate about in school, and shrugged off learning about it. Years later, and working for a boutique wax studio, I fell instantly in love with the instant gratification and the trust clients have with you during vulnerable services. I wanted to get involved with my community a little more, specifically because I didn’t have many local Esthetician friends, which led me to make the podcast. The podcast would forever skyrocket me into a whole world of Entrepreneurship I never knew I wanted to be in. I met amazing likeminded people who all owned their own businesses, and was taking life into their own hands, Being the person on the other side of the stories, it encouraged me to go off and explore the possibilities myself. The Podcast ultimately led me to deeper conversations around our market and how this industry was underserving their customers (us). I decided it was time waxing got an upgrade. So I founded Enso, a brand for Estheticians that challenge the way we work by creating the first of its kind patented self stirring wax warmer. Along side our warmer, we also create wax that gets right to the point, leaving out all the marketing fluff other companies claim (Because Estheticians are smarter than that). Today, we have launched our soft wax Penny, and are set to launch Penny hard wax 8/2024. Our wax warmer has been in development and manufacturing since 2021 but are excited to say it launched this fall. Giving back to the community has always been a mission for our brand, so we are excited to be here today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, with both N-O capitalized. One of the most challenging items to create was the wax warmer- and we decided this would be our first product. Now, I will say, its made all of the other challenges we face seem easy, but wow this has truly been new territory. There’s so much work that goes into inventing a product, and so much testing as well. Something that was suppose to go to market July of 2021 is still in development today, in 2024.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Enso Wax is the first of its kind company that invented and developed a self stirring wax warmer. Our company believes that Estheticians deserve more and better quality in the treatment room, that serves them as professionals. We specialize in high quality wax formulas and breaking the industry mold with advanced products. We believe we are an industry leader because we do things that matter- Educate and deliver top notch experience to our customers. I am most proud of being an Esthetician and women founder to a industry that is 96% female. Enso not only plans on selling high quality products to its customers, but giving back as well- We are so excited to be here.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
my dad is a small business owner and since I can remember, would take me and my sisters to work with him. He owns a granite and cabinet company so you can imagine saws, big machines, and heavy equipment no child should be around. Yet, as a small business trying to make ends meet to one day grow, my dad had no choice but to take us along for the ride. I’m sure in the moment I wanted to be doing anything but, but looking back its always been one of my favorite memories that also helped lead me into the space of owning a small business.
