Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Cockerham
Hi Emma, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in the hospitality industry. I worked in several hotels in positions like Front Office Agent, Front Office Manager, Guest Services, Banquets, Sales & Catering, and Conference Coordination. I always knew I loved serving others and events in general. The glamour and personality that was so unique for each of them is really what drew me in. I got married in 2012 and loved every second of planning my wedding, as well as helping my best friend plan and execute hers.
A few years later, another friend asked me why I didn’t just do weddings for a living. My response was, “Well, that is the dream isn’t it?” and she simply told me to put a contract together for her parents! I was shocked but excited. Infinity Events grew from there and I have been planning events and working for myself for just short of 10 years.
My husband is the #1 support in my life. Without his encouragement and ability to truly partner with me with raising our family, Infinity Events would simply not exist. He not only helps move chairs and tables around when needed, but he also brainstorms great ideas and helps the team with sales tactics to apply within the business.
I believe in education. The first real step in implementing education as a core value of Infinity Events was to become a Certified Wedding Planner with the CWP Society. I now require the certification for any Associate Planner within Infinity Events, and I am a CWPS Educator myself. My aim is to help move wedding planners in this industry to new heights by aligning with incredible professionals and talent!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am very blessed in that I can see how the struggles I have been through have shaped me and ultimately made me a better person. I strive to grow through the trials in life. That being said, it has not always been smooth sailing. I think the biggest struggle for me as a business owner and empath has been turnover within the team. My team members become like family to me, and I care for them and see so far into their future within Infinity Events. Having big hopes and dreams for them can be inspiring, but I am learning that people’s dreams sometimes change. Though it is difficult in the moment, the company has become stronger and I am learning more about becoming the leader I want to be.

Infinity Events is a full-service event planning company based out of Memphis, TN. We specialize in Wedding Planning, Design, and Management. With more than a decade of experience and hundreds of weddings under our belt, we bring expertise to the table for each of our clients that is invaluable during the planning process. We are a team of Certified Wedding Planners who value the client experience and strong vendor relationships. We get to know each individual client and infuse their wedding with their personalities and tastes within their specific planning constraints. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I think the most important lesson to learn as a business owner is that not ALL business is the right business. As Infinity Events has matured, we consider consultations with potential clients to be an interview in both directions. We hope to be the perfect fit for each client, but also acknowledge that they might not be the best fit for Infinity Events. When approached with love and humility, this principle benefits everyone involved. I believe that every single couple deserves a wedding planner who they can trust and should be able to walk away after the wedding of their dreams with zero regrets.
