Meet “The Groovy King” Eddie Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to “The Groovy King” Eddie Love

Hi “The Groovy King” Eddie Love, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I was a little itty bitty groover, I’ve always had a passion for the art of dance. You name a style, I’ve mastered it. I guess you can say it’s apart of my DNA can ya dig it? I was a back to back dance title winner by the age of 7. I once broke a record for longest consecutive dance sequence with 16 hours or non stop movin’ and groovin’. I’ve opened dance schools in all corners of the USA. West Coast, East Coast, even the south. After you’ve achieved everything in one line of work, after the accolades start to pile, after the trophies and medals become furniture, it’s time to venture off. I found a professional wrestling tryout in the deep south of Alexandria, Louisiana. Showed up, showed out, and left everyone in the room with their jaws on the floor. They couldn’t believe I’ve never wrestled before. They begged me to join them which I did of course. Fast forward to September 11th, 2021, I made my professional wrestling debut for the United Wrestling Entertainment in Jena, Louisiana under Legendary superstar “Dapper” Dan Davis. “The Groovy King” Eddie Love was born. I faced a very “Bizarre ” cat by the name of Rika Wildlee. Unfortunately his in-ring experience worked in his favor as he got the win, but that wouldn’t be the last time we would face each other, dig it? I was a certified natural. I rocked the house anywhere I went and always left them begging for more. On June 11th 2022 in Center, Tx, I captured my first professional wrestling title when I defeated “The Dark Wolf” Jake fury for the UWE heavyweight championship. He was no pushover and you can take that to the bank. I held that title with honor, dignity, and respect for 413 day. A record that still stands today. Eventually I would get cheated out of my belt, but that’s a story for another day. I continued to make a name for myself all across the country like only I know how, movin’ and groovin’ into the hearts of all the fans. Eventually I would find myself in the legendary city of music. Of course I’m talking about Memphis, Tennessee. I found a guy by the name of Marco Rose, who’s the owner of Committed to Wrestling and he wanted me to come though for a show. 3 shows later and who is one half of the FIRST EVER Committed to Wrestling tag team champions? You guessed it, the cake baker, the hit maker, the rump shaker, The Groovy King Eddie Love. Alongside my partner Tip Toe Jeffro, we gel like hair grease, you dig? You can catch us back in Memphis October 18th ready for any and ALL comers. We plan on running through the whole division until we own the joint. So when you see a brother with the shades on and the belt over my shoulder, don’t be shy, come up to ya guy and together we can reach the sky…now DIG THAT!!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is a roller coaster, there’s ups, there’s downs, with twists and turns at every corner. It’s not about how many times you fail, how many times we come up just short of the win, no matter how many times we fall, it’s about how many times we get back up and continue. There are no losses in life, only lessons. In pro wrestling just like many other aspects of life, you will get hurt. I’ve nearly broken my neck, I’ve torn my quadricep muscle against a big angry giant in The Tyrant. I’ve had foreign objects broken over me. The worst pain I’ve felt however was from betrayal. My once good friend X storms tuned on me when I was at my highest. We once were like brothers. While I was atop the UWE mountain with the heavyweight title, he was right next to me with the light-heavyweight title. We were untouchable inside UWE and beyond. He ended up losing his belt against Rika Wildlee, who would eventually be forced to vacate the title soon after for unknown reasons. After a few months, a decision was made to hold a Battle Royal for the #1 contendership for the UWE heavyweight championship. Who won that Battle Royal? You guessed it…X Storms. Here I was forced to compete against my brother with my title on the line. We gave it everything we had and left it all in the ring. Fortunately I got the victory, of course that did not sit well with X. He decided that he would use his rematch clause for yet another shot at the title. However THIS match ended in a draw with both of us being counted out after an ugly brawl. One night while I was away, X storms broke into my home and maliciously attacked one of my children. The line in the sand was drew. I couldn’t live with myself for letting something like this happen, and I wasn’t going to let him get away with this. I begged the higher ups to get my hands on X. They granted me my wish on one condition, This match would be decided in a Texas Death Match. Fast forward towards the end of the match, the referee somehow puts himself in harms way and was knocked unconscious for some time. As I’m trying to wake him up, X then hits me across the back with a wooden crutch he stashed before the match. Referee wakes up, X covers me, and just like that my 413 day reign was over. Just like that, a friendship was over. We ended up in the ring once again, and once again I was cheated. My chances ran out as X ran off with my belt. Since then we haven’t crossed paths but like the old folks used to say…2 mountains may never meet, but 2 men will.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Of course my art is dance. Contemporary, Tap, breaking, old school, new school you name it I do it. I own 3 dance schools currently. One in San Diego, one in NYC and one in Florida. I would have to say my new favorite style of dance is Memphis Jooking. It’s catchy, it’s stylish, it has layers of interpretive with much footwork which is a secret key in the wrestling ring. Slow feet don’t eat in this game and I stay hungry. I’m most proud of being able to say I’m not walking in anyone’s shadow. I’m not a yes man to anyone, I didn’t need to step on people to be successful, I did things the right way and I always did/do right by people. I carved my own lane and the way I’m driving, nobody can pass me. I come from humble beginnings but I was always taught to shine my light whenever and wherever. We were given this gift and it would be selfish to keep it to ourselves. I wish more people in my life of work thought the way I do but unfortunately this isn’t a perfect world. So until then I’m just spreading love peace and soul every chance I get.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
As a man this day in age, it’s a risk to even leave the front door. You never know what the other person has going on in their lives. I’m sure all the greats were afraid at one point or another. It’s human nature. I’m afraid before every match because I just want to be the best I can be and I want to leave the fans with something to talk about. But as humans, we can’t let fear dictate our lives. We can’t live our lives worrying if something bad will happen. Chances are it will. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog. We only have one life. Everyone dies but not everyone lives. Risks will get you places you would never imagine. A risk was taken when that mother and father wanted to have a baby. A risk was taken when that electrician left his house this morning. A risk was taken by the soldiers who signed up to protect our country. It’s what makes us or brakes us. We just have to figure out what we are willing risk and how bad do you want what you’re after.
