Rising Stars: Meet Kimberly Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jackson

Kimberly , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been interesting. It has included a lot of resistance lol. I spent years searching for my identity and trying to figure out where I belong. In 2021, after several conversations with freinds, I decided to become a life coach. I like ‘helping people.’ Although I was a school social worker at the time I knew that I didn’t want therapy to be the only avenue I had. So I planned it all out; I took the certification course, got the website built, created the website, launched then boom…. nothing, lol. I did a few speaking engagments and webinars but it seemed like the things I were doing were forced. I felt like I was trying to force myself into being the “ideal life coach” I was seeing online. The only time I felt comfortable, energized, alive, was when I was talking about God and/or mental health. Now I am learning that the purpose of my coaching business is to target the areas of spiritual health and mental health. I realized I am not supposed to follow every trend or copy the style of other coaches. I am here to serve others by helping them improve their lives and achieve maximum satisfaction by combing my passion for Christ and mental health and wellness.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I often quote “Well son, I’ll tell you. Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair’, lol. The biggest struggle has been overcoming the fear and negative thoughts. I often think about if I will be received by people because I am talking about God and mental health. People can become defensive about those two topics. I am not one to tussle or argue about either. Accepting that the calling on my life is to shed light of the many ways mental health shows up in our daily lives is easy when I am talking to someone I know, but to have that conversations with millions of people on the internet can be nerve wrecking because of the stigma that is attached to it. The spiritual aspect, well we know how people can get about this. I am learning daily to show up unapologetic as a Christ loving life coach.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am learning that success is on the other side of risk taking. You do not know what is on the other side of the risk or decision you need to make. Taking risk creates change and often times the change is for the better. Risk taking is equivalent to having faith. Romans 8:28 (paraphrased) states all things work together for the good of those who love Him and called according to His purposed. When you are putting in the work to accomplish a goal or create a better life, everything HAS to work out because its in the Word of God. I haven’t had to take any major risk to date. I would saying though, showing up online and being vulnerable is a risk because you are opening the door for people to voice their opinion about you.
