Meet Merlin Babaji of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Merlin Babaji

Hi Merlin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in the rough streets of New Mexico was raised around drug dealers and drug users. New Mexico is a hard state to get out of the negativity has a way of holding a lot of people down by getting them sucked into hard drugs and bad habits. But I’ll always have love for the state that’s why I try to represent it every time I can. When I was 19 I moved to Los Angeles and started rapping. Los Angeles is a whole other type of beast the streets out here and chew you up and spit you out quick but I have called it my home for the past 8 years. Here I gained inspiration from the people I’ve seen doing rap music and started out free-styling in the streets with people. Merlin has always been a name in my family but Babaji came from other activities I was involved in and now I make money off it in a more positive way. Babaji is a name people give with great respect to spiritual leaders in India. Out in Los Angeles the fast paced and sometimes dangerous environment turned me into a true hustler to the point I am now reaching the whole world with my hustle. What once started out as something negative is now something I can help people from every country on the planet through my music and messages I put in my music. My song “Vibes” blew up on Instagram gaining over 2.5 million posts and reels and millions of streams on Spotify which brought many blessings into my life. I started out preforming at clubs around Los Angeles but most recently I just headlined a show on the runway for New York Fashion week and have been on some of the biggest billboards in NY.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ll keep it real it’s been a rough road but the fruits of the labor make it worth it. You got to put it all on the line sometimes, your time, money and even your life if you want to make it in this game. You have to be able to show the world exactly who you are and be prepared for a lot of pushback and jealously from people who are still trying to figure that out within themselves. But at the end of the day I wouldn’t want it any other way. What I’ve gained from it and the type of life I’m living could go down in history. Got to be able to go through hell to show god you belong in heaven.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a worldwide known rapper and singer. I’m known for making unique music that touches people’s souls and helps them with their day to day lives. I’m set apart from others by being myself.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are one of the most important and defining aspects of any art form or profession. If you want to achieve success you need to be ready to risk it all for what’s on the other side. I’ve risked my money, time, and even my life to get where I am now. That being said be smart about your moves and what you gain from those risks will be bigger than anything you put into them.
