Meet Sheena Butler of Sista Rootz Herbal Blendz and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Butler

Hi Sheena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Sheena Butler, Founder and CEO of Sista Rootz Herbal Blendz and Wellness. I am a licensed RN and practicing herbalist, with over a decade of critical care experience. I decided to return to the original form of medicine after years of not seeing any real change and minimal optimal outcomes with conventional healthcare practices. Using raw materials, such as herbs, roots, and flowers, Sista Rootz addresses the root cause of the issues that plague communities daily.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle has been attempting to get members of the African American community to think outside of what they have been conditioned to believe regarding health, wellness, and medical autonomy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Sista Rootz Herbal Blendz and Wellness, we seek to help the people of the black community regain autonomy over their health and wellness. African Americans are notoriously and disproportionately affected by every single disease process, irregardless of the nature of origin, i.e. mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health. By equipping them with the knowledge, education, and skills necessary to make informed decisions regarding their bodies, overall health, and lifestyles, we are able to positively affect incidence and occurrence rates, thereby decreasing overall morbidity and mortality rates within the total population. We specialize in any and all things that ail the human body, whether it be a simple issue, such as seasonal allergies, or a more complex issue, such as a stage 4 pressure ulcer. Our products are made from raw, organic flowers, roots, and herbs that support the body’s natural processes of restoration, repair, and regeneration. By using a combination of nutritional and herbal medicine, we teach clients to reverse chronic health conditions that leave their bodies in a desiccated and weakened state, while simultaneously being tethered to artificial substances and protocols that maintain disease processes and sustain bodily functions just enough to ensure survival but offer no true curative effects. Unlike conventional treatment modalities, we offer and assist the client with selecting a variety of healing modalities that can be used to reverse and provide a diminution of the severity of the illness, which allows for a better chance of restoration to a normal and optimal state of health. What I am most proud of brand wise is the level of trust that I have gained within the black community, not just in Memphis but across the US, thanks to the far reach of social media. The reviews and testimonials that I receive daily from those who have used my products and services are a testament to the rapport that has been established. I want the readers to know that there is someone who looks like them and that truly cares about them and has not only their best interest, but the best interest of the African American collective, in mind and at heart, and can offer a unique perspective, which encompasses both the viewpoint of not only a holistic healer, but a clinician as well.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Absolutely! I draw inspiration, insight, perspective, and further knowledge from resources of all sorts. I am a fervent student of pathophysiology, pharmacology, conventional and holistic healing modalities, herbalism, and alternative/complimentary therapies, as well as consciousness, metaphysics, African American and slave lore and history, hoodoo, and root work.
