Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Mason
Hi Jessie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
So I come from a family that loves to party and have a goodtime celebrating EVERYTHING, literally. I have a lot of creatives in my family and all are very unique in their own way. Once I got grown grown and got my 1st single bedroom apartment, I hosted events at my spot every week it seemed like. Game night, wine tasting, uno and spades night ( I still can’t play spades) , movie night, day parties, bbq kickbacks, and pool parties. In 2017 I was given the opportunity to plan my first wedding. I had no idea where to begin, so logged into youtube and watched a few wedding movies, CRAZY RIGHT? Hey the bride and groom trusted me, so I had to utilize my resources. After 9 months of planning, the wedding day came! The couple was very pleased! We had a few issues here and there but nothing major. I felt good good and shocked myself, thanks to my bestfriend Shianne Ricks for assisting me the whole way and the day of. love you BIG !
Fast forward to the beginning of 2020 I launched Just Right Events Event Planning Services. I was so nervous but it was TIME.
I had the full support of my family and friends who all where in agreement that it was long overdue. August 2020 my little sister got married and guess who had to design and plan the wedding? ME!
My first official wedding under my brand name, SUUUUPPPER EXCITED!
After her beautiful, intimate backyard wedding (covid style) at their lovely home, the photos were ready + posted !
The people began to BOOK BOOK! I was so overwhelmed with Joy and Blessed. I was honored that my sister and my now brother-in-love trusted me to execute such a timeless occasion they would forever remember.
At the time I only had a team of 2 volunteers, fast forward to now 2025 I currently have a squad of 7 well-capable, stunning assistants who exude the vision of Just Right Events.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m laughing because the roads in Memphis are not smooth, so this process has had its rough patches here and there. The event planning industry is full of amazing creatives, who main goal is to please the customer and creative captivating experiences. I learned quickly and still to this day that, they are low and high seasons through the year in this industry. It’s been times where I’ve only had 1 event through a 1 or 2 month period. It can be summer time, which is a high vacation period, or January where most people are recovering from the thousands they’ve spent from thanksgiving to new year’s day.
In addition, social media is a HUGE marketing tool now. While the rest of the five billion people who are on the same platform advertising their product or business, I have to strategize daily to gain the attention of my direct audience. A good friend of mine and business partner taught me early on, STAY CONSISTENT WITH YOUR BRAND.
Your consumers will notice how much work and how effective you are with your brand, it will gain their attention instantly.
So I would not honest to my team and myself and it has been smooth, its been a lot of tears, sleepless nights, lack of creativity moments but I remained faithful and did not give up!

I am the owner/founder of Just Right Events Event Planning Services. We specialize in curating monumental experiences and surpass every client very expectation.
Weddings – Corporate Events – Signature Events – Social – Travel – Community Outreach.
What sets us apart, this brand not only just curates events for the city of Memphis, and we give back annually during the holiday season. We host a blanket drive and also a toy drive between November and December. 2024 was our 1st year for the Just Right Events blanket drive. We collected over 250 blankets. Our goal was 150, but we way over that in two weeks. We blessed the homeless on thanksgiving eve and thanksgiving with warm blankets.
This was our 4 year for our toy drive. We adopted a kindergarten class and gifted them 27 scooters.
I’m most proud of that I haven’t given up ! I haven’t thrown in the towel ! There’s More to Achieve !

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
connect with some vendor creatives/friends. these are individuals are in the same industry and assist in areas you need guidance in with your brand. It can be from marketing, financially, organizing business tools, understanding the wants and needs of the customer.
I’ve build some relationships through my 4 year tenure of my business. I know I can not do this thing along, so these vendor creatives have become a great deal to the elevation and development of my brand.
