Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelena Allen
Hi Chelena, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the Show Me State & received my Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State University (currently Missouri State University). I located to Memphis after college graduation. My background is in marketing and public relations. In the past, I worked several corporate jobs in various industries and even operated my own business for several years. When my my husband and I decided to sell and purchase a new home, we had a “not so great” experience. I became interested in the real estate market at that time and felt like I could give people a much better experience than what we had. It wasn’t until a few years later, after we had our son, my husband told me to go for it. I decided to get my real estate license and I have worked as a full time agent since 2016.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a Realtor, you have to brand yourself & learn how to differentiate yourself. Deciding how to do that in an industry that feels saturated can be challenging. Another challenge is a fluctuating market. It is cyclical. Being able to keep up with the trends, interest rates, & housing demand is a must if you want to fully satisfy your clients. Last, generating leads and building a strong pipeline can be extremely challenging especially as a new agent. Being a Realtor definitely requires resilience and adaptability.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My specialty is residential real estate. I am most proud of the clientele that I have built and how I have built a trust with them. I like to think that what sets me apart is my commitment to lasting relationships. It’s not just about closing a transaction but taking the time to really know and understand my clients’ goals. I like to tailor my approach to give them a very personal experience that meets their needs. I bring market knowledge, negotiation skills, and attention to details to assure my clients feel supported every step of the way. Plus, my motivation comes from my family because I know how important finding the right home is because I have lived it myself. It’s not just business for me; it’s personal.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the culture and rich history of Memphis. With the history, comes a sense of pride from the community. Known as the birthplace of blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll, Memphis is home to iconic landmarks like Beale Street, Sun Studio, and the Stax Museum. I also love the food & we are known for Memphis Barbecue! Lastly, it’s an added plus that the cost of living is more affordable than most major cities.
What I like the least….the weather! I grew up in the Midwest & we had hot summers, but Memphis can be extremely hot and humid in the summer months. It’s almost unbearable a lot of summer days! That’s what I like the least.
