Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Rose
Hi Madeline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Wedding photography has been my full-time job for a little under 5 years now. I found this career somewhat accidentally. I was given a camera by a friend who “thought I’d be good at it” and it wasn’t even the art of taking photos but more so the art of remembering that kept me hooked. Documenting my friends and family in those seasons was really dear to me. After I shot a few weddings and realized that’s what it was all about (photographing life as it is; beautiful, mundane, and centered in love), I never wanted to stop.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have always struggled with confidence. Starting out it was hard to avoid imposter syndrome. looking back on my earlier posts I don’t see myself, I see someone trying to fit in. It’s so cliche, but when I started to show up authenticity in my business, I started attracting dream clients with similar values. I love that I am a person who is still learning and figuring it out. There will always be someone more skilled and experienced than me, and that’s just another opportunity to grow
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer. I’m most focused on documenting weddings, and people in their craft doing what they’re most passionate about. there is a lot to be proud of when owning your own business, and I am really grateful to be in this position at all.
I am proud to be able to give people their memories. To try and document their wedding or business like a friend with a camera. Authenticity and uncurated. I believe I am set apart in the same way other artists stand out to me: I am myself. Im not trying to adhere to trends or “what you’re supposed to do” but what feels right for myself or my clients.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I love this. Yes, absolutely so many people have helped me become who I am today. One of my best friends Ally Perkins-Roberts trusted me to come help her shoot a wedding in 2018 and changed my perspective forever. She has always instilled confidence in me from day one. Another person who is very important to me is Cori McCleskey, she owns Remember Media and I did most of their photography from 2021-2023 all over Memphis. She’s always trusted my creativity and has been extremely supportive on where my heart was with my work (weddings!)
I also keep a folder on my computer of every kind word from clients + other creatives + followers because I love the reminders and gestures of kindness and support!
