Hi, Jason. It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I own a management company & booking agency where represent several international recording artist as well as put to together major concerts & events all over the world.
I started out working as a promotions assistant at k97 years ago. That’s where I formed different relationships with a lot of ppl in the music business & that’s basically in a nutshell how my company came about.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had to kind of learn the business as I went, you can’t really learn this in school & I didn’t really know that this was an actual business prior to me doing it. So I would say that was the toughest challenge was having to learn the business hands on.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about JS management ?
I started this company almost 20 years ago, the 1st two major artist I worked with were YO GOTTI & PLEASURE P (once he left multi platinum group “pretty Ricky”). Over the years I’ve represented most of the artist Gotti signed to his cmg imprint, that’s mostly what ppl know me from. Currently I handle the touring for MONEYBAGG YO & I handle a lot of bookings for GLORILLA, also for being kind of a liaison to the stars as some would say as I help concert promoters & venue owners bring celebrities to their city. We’ve put together events in just about every major city in America as well as London, Dubai, Jamaica & host of other international countries
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think networking is very important, in this business it’s all about who you know & your relationships, relationships are what turns 1 thing into another, in the past 10 years I ventured off into the nightclub business in which I’ve owned several clubs from Memphis, to Atlanta, to Las Vegas. Most notable one in Memphis was “VLIVE MEMPHIS” & I say that to say that whole business came from just me networking with ppl & sharing ideas
