Life & Work with Deora Clairé of Memphis, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deora Clairé

Hi Deora Clairé, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been writing songs since elementary school—before I even realized the power of words and melodies. I loved reading, writing, singing, and learning Spanish, but I had no idea that these passions would one day intertwine, leading me to become a Christian Bilingual Singer-Songwriter and Author.

In 2018, I took a leap of faith and released my first EP, Love Over Hate. It was my first time stepping into a recording studio, and though it was a small project, it was a major confidence booster. Encouraged by that experience, I made a bold decision in the spring of 2019: I quit my job to fully pursue my dreams. I released remixes of my most popular song, performed in multiple cities, and felt like I was stepping into my purpose.

But that summer, everything came to a halt. I experienced a severe manic episode, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and spent a week in the hospital. The depression that followed was overwhelming, and for a long time, I believed my dreams had come to an end.

I stepped away from music for a while, uncertain if I’d ever return. It wasn’t until 2022 that I found the courage to release new music—two albums, in fact. One was deeply personal, inspired by my journey from heartbreak and mental health struggles to a renewed faith and purpose. The other was a Christian album meant to uplift and encourage anyone going through hard times. Since then, I’ve continued releasing music every year, using my voice to inspire and heal.

In 2023, I expanded my endeavors beyond music. I became a Content Partner with the YouVersion Bible App and published my first devotional, Taking Action Against Depression. Later that year, I co-authored the book Shattered By One’s Touch and We Overcame. Then, in 2024, I released a second devotional, Keep Breathing, God is Still Working, which accompanied my single Keep Breathing 2.0. Both pieces hold a special place in my heart, as they remind people to keep going—to breathe, even in the darkest moments.

Now, in 2025, I’m celebrating a milestone: five years of mental health stability by the grace of God. To mark this moment, I’m working on a new book, an accompanying journal, and a song—all dedicated to sharing my journey and encouraging others in theirs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Pursuing my dreams and purpose has been far from easy. Bipolar disorder, with its manic episodes and depressive lows, forced me to put my aspirations on hold for years. But through faith and therapy, I found stability at the end of 2020, allowing me to move forward with renewed strength and purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Christian Bilingual Singer-Songwriter and Author, what I’m most proud of is God’s grace in my life. Without Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today—mentally healthy, purpose-driven, and faith-filled. What sets me apart isn’t just my ability to sing or write, but the testimony behind my words. My journey with mental health allows me to connect with those who are struggling, offering them hope. I believe God entrusted me with these challenges so I could be a light, reflecting His goodness and encouraging others to keep going.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people familiar with my work may not realize that I’ve created my music and devotionals while balancing a full-time corporate career as a Senior Marketing Specialist. With nearly eight years of experience in marketing and project management, I’ve had the opportunity to work at a leading nonprofit and two Fortune 500 companies, honing skills that have also helped me navigate my creative pursuits.
