Exploring Life & Business with Tamira Poplar of First-Class Bratz Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamira Poplar

Hi Tamira, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This journey started because growing up I’ve always known I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I never liked being told what to do. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always kept a job but the problem always came in when I couldn’t keep it. People always would call me Trish from Austin & Ally on Disney Channel. I got my first job when I was 14 working at my auntie bakery and food truck. When I turned 16 I started working at dominos pizza while having a side hustle. I took what I learned at my auntie bakery and started my first business Sugar Rush. It made me lots of money at the time selling treats to my classmates but I just didn’t like doing it. If I didn’t like doing it I couldn’t continue it which is why I ran through so many jobs and started making treats only on holidays. By the age of 19 I worked at all the warehouses and temp service jobs lol. In July of 2021 I started Delta Tech for cosmetology but I didn’t like it so I left a few months later. I started practicing different styles on my friend Erica. She is the one person that would literally let me try anything on her. It started with her hair now it’s her lashes too. In July of 2022 I started creating content on TikTok while I was at my security job. It started out from me being bored at work just playing around but when I posted videos they like them. So that brought me to expanding to posting hair videos. My hair videos also did well so that gave me the idea to take becoming an actual content creator serious. I enjoyed recording, editing, posting, & watching my videos. So I’m currently trying to grow on my YouTube ( 102 subscribers @The Real Boujiee Brat) and TikTok ( boujiee_brat 5,468+ follows). In September of 2022 I gave cosmetology school one more try. I started Paul Mitchell beauty school everything was going good until my car broke down. I took a break and came back in January of 2023. Throughout this journey of car trouble on and off I finally reached my 1,000 hours with only 3 months left. I got kicked out due to them saying I owe when I know I didn’t. They’re currently holding my hours hostage meaning if I want to go to another school I would have to start over and I refuse to do that. So I’m currently pursuing my career my way and it’s working just fine.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t been a smooth road at all but I figured out how to navigate through this journey. I often used to second guess myself. It was easy to get discouraged when things weren’t going as planned but everything happened for a reason it only made me stronger. I’ve come to the conclusion that Memphis isn’t my targeted audience. Stay tuned. I’ve been approved to sell items in the TikTok shop. I will be selling wigs, lip gloss, bonnets, lace glue , & etc. I’ve been testing out vendors so be on the lookout for First Class Bratz products in the TikTok shop by November 2025.

As you know, we’re big fans of First-Class Bratz Beauty . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I currently offer hair and lash service. I do lash clusters, braids, quick weaves, 2 strands, retwist, wig installs, and etc. I specialize in silk presses & wigs. I’m set apart from others because I guarantee you won’t find my vibe at any other appointment. I always create a safe space to make all my clients comfortable male or female . I love when clients return because that let me know I did something right.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The characteristics you need to be successful are you have to be a hustler, have faith, & be consistent. You gone have plenty sleepless night but the grind can’t stop until you get exactly where you want to be . Faith is the most important if u don’t believe in yourself no one else will. Bet on yourself if you gone roll the dice on anything as Kash Doll said. You have to be consistent in whatever you do there’s always room to grow and improve.
