Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Boyles
Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was a single mom working at Mellow Mushroom, and I knew I needed a career change that would offer better hours and flexibility for my kids. So, I took the leap and enrolled in cosmetology school in 2016. My goal was to secure a job quickly after graduating, but I ended up falling in love with the industry.
After graduating in 2018, I landed a job at a franchise hair salon, where I refined my skills until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Following the lockdown, I had the incredible opportunity to join a local barbershop, which became a pivotal moment in my career. I honed my techniques, formed lasting connections with colleagues, and received mentorship that significantly contributed to my success.
However, as my children’s schedules became increasingly demanding, I realized I needed to prioritize flexibility. This led me to take the bold step of opening Imperium Men’s Grooming in 2023. As I approach my two-year anniversary this April, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for my family’s unwavering support and my incredible clients.
Building a business that provides for my children while allowing me to do what I love every day has been a dream come true. I’m constantly entertained by my clients, and I feel fortunate to have created a space where I can make a meaningful impact on their lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, any significant life change comes with its challenges. But I’ve been fortunate to have an incredible client base that has supported me every step of the way, as well as a loving family and friends who have provided endless motivation and encouragement.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a men’s hair specialist, I deliver precision cuts that keep guys looking and feeling their best. From fades to specialty cuts and groomed beards, I like to stay on top of the latest trendy styles. What sets me apart is my passion for building relationships with my clients, and I think that’s also what I’m most proud of. I take the time to listen to what they want and strive to exceed their expectations- all while having a great time, a cold drink, and a good laugh!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Honestly, predicting the future of the industry is a tough one! But that’s what makes it so exciting. I love seeing which trends take off and become the next big thing. I mean, who would have thought the mullet would make a comeback? It’s been a blast learning and mastering the latest styles, and I’m always up for a challenge. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
