Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Smith.
Hi Candice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey began in Seattle, where I spent nearly a decade managing Mermaid Hair Extensions, one of Salon Today’s Top 200 salons in the country. During that time, I saw firsthand how beauty transformed not just how women looked, but how they felt. It was bigger than giving them MORE hair but giving them confidence. This experience sparked a desire in me to go deeper and help women not only feel good on the outside but also feel empowered from within.
I became a certified health coach to broaden my impact and support women holistically. That journey ignited a passion for personal growth which led me to explore new passions like kickboxing, solo travel, and public speaking with Toastmasters. These experiences pushed me to grow in ways I hadn’t imagined and deepened my commitment to helping women feel that same level of self-empowerment.
All of this came together in the creation of SheRose, a movement designed to help women rise, thrive, and own their power. In 2020, I moved to Memphis to continue this mission, and through SheRose Extension Bar, I’ve built a space where beauty and connection meet. Whether it’s restoring confidence with hair extensions or hosting events for like-minded women, I’m dedicated to helping women feel beautiful, supported, and strong. When women feel empowered, there’s nothing they can’t do, and I’m honored to be part of that transformation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been worth every step. I relocated to Memphis to be with my husband, not knowing anyone or much about the city. Leaving behind everything familiar, including my support system, was a big adjustment. I went from feeling like a strong force in my community to starting over in a place where no one knew me. That was tough. I was going through a major life transition, getting married, becoming a mom, and building something new all at the same time.
I began laying the foundation, brick by brick, and held onto something my mom reminded me of during this season: “Build it and they will come.” That kept me grounded, especially on the harder days.
There was also an internal shift I had to face. I had done the hard work, but I realized I couldn’t just hold on to who I had been. I needed to become who I was meant to be in this new season. That meant rediscovering my identity, embracing the change, and trusting that the woman I was becoming had just as much strength, purpose, and power as the one I left behind.

At SheRose Extension Bar, we specialize in transforming beauty by giving women the hair of their dreams while revealing the SheRo within. We focus on color and hair extensions, offering custom solutions that help women become the happiest and most confident versions of themselves.
What sets us apart is our commitment to fostering a supportive, uplifting community where women experience healthy sisterhood. In addition to our hair services, we host social events that bring like-minded women together to grow, support local businesses, and engage in activities throughout Memphis. Through these events, we create unique experiences that allow women to build meaningful connections while supporting local entrepreneurs and the vibrant Memphis community.

What I like most about Memphis is its vibrant energy and rich culture. The city is full of talented entrepreneurs, and the music scene is unlike any other. There’s so much history here, and it’s inspiring to be in a place where creativity and passion run deep. Memphis has an undeniable liveliness that makes it unique.
On the flip side, one challenge I’ve encountered is the difficulty in breaking through. As with any growing city, it can take time to build a reputation and connect with the right people. But that’s also part of the journey, and I’m determined to continue building and growing here.
