Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosetta “DJ Zetta” Jackson.
Hi Rosetta “DJ Zetta”, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For sure! So boom! I go by DJ Zetta, straight outta Memphis, and I’m a DJ, Executive Producer, and all-around creative. I started off with just a genuine love for music and a curiosity to learn. Nobody handed me anything , I taught myself how to DJ, practiced nonstop, and slowly started building my name in the city.
I graduated from the University of Memphis (Go Tigers!), and while I was there ,and even after, I DJ’d a ton of college events and parties. That’s really where I learned how to move a crowd and keep the energy flowing. I’m also a proud member of The Supreme Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., which played a big role in shaping the leader and woman I am today.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to DJ for the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Flyer festivals, private events, and a long list of local events right here in the city. I’ve built my brand from the ground up, and everything I do is rooted in passion, purpose, and community.
On top of that, I’m the Executive Producer behind CLOVR — a music project that blends healing, local talent, and storytelling. It’s one of my proudest creations and a reflection of everything I believe in: creativity, growth, and using your gifts to uplift others.
The road hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been powerful. And truthfully, I feel like I’m just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Whew, I wish I could say it’s been smooth, but nah it’s been a ride for sure. There were a lot of bumps, plot twists, and character development moments along the way.
Being a woman in the DJ world comes with its own set of challenges. I’ve had to prove myself in rooms where people didn’t take me seriously at first, like I had to really show up and let the music speak louder than the doubt. On top of that, building a creative career while juggling life, bills, and healing from personal things? That’s a balancing act nobody prepares you for.
There were times I felt burnt out, unseen, and even questioned if I was on the right path. But I kept going. I learned to trust my timing, protect my peace, and stay aligned with my purpose — even when things weren’t perfect.
Honestly, the struggles taught me how to boss up in a different way. They gave me grit, clarity, and the kind of confidence that don’t come from a highlight reel.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a DJ, Executive Producer, and creative curator, but more than anything, I’m an energy architect. I specialize in setting the tone, creating memorable experiences, and blending sounds that make people feel something, not just dance.
I’m known for my crowd control, clean transitions, and being able to shift the entire mood of a room, whether it’s a private party, a branded event, or something healing and intentional. I’m not just pressing play; I’m reading the energy and guiding it on purpose.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my music project CLOVR. It’s a series I created to spotlight local artists and producers, but it’s also a healing journey — part spiritual therapy, part sonic art. It’s raw, emotional, and rooted in growth. That project came straight from the soul.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just show up to play music, I bring a vibe. I care about the experience, the message, and making sure people leave feeling better than they came. Whether it’s a party or a healing project, I put my all into it.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Well, the industry is definitely evolving and fast. Over the next 5 to 10 years, I see DJs becoming even more like full-on brands and not just people behind the booth. It’s not just about spinning records anymore, it’s about curating experiences, building a presence online, creating content, and having something to say with your sound.
Technology is also shifting things heavy. With AI, streaming, and new DJ software dropping every year, the way we mix, promote, and connect with audiences is only getting more advanced. And let’s not forget social media; platforms like TikTok and YouTube are turning DJs into global personalities almost overnight. If you’re not tapping into that content game, you’re already behind.
Another big shift I see is more women kicking down doors in this space and finally getting the visibility and respect we deserve. The culture is starting to reflect more of us, and that’s exciting.
So yeah, I think it’s less about following trends and more about setting them, building community, and staying authentic. Those are the DJs who’ll be winning long-term.
Now ME In the next 5 to 10 years? Oh, I see myself all up in the mix — literally and figuratively!
I see myself DJing major festivals, headlining stages across the U.S. and beyond, and locking in brand partnerships with companies that align with my sound, style, and story. Think Sony, Pioneer, Serato, or even fashion brands — because this isn’t just music, it’s lifestyle.
I’ll be expanding CLOVR into a full creative platform — producing more music, merch, and even content that helps other artists heal and grow. I see myself hosting my own curated events that mix music, self-care, and vibes that feed the soul. I want people to pull up and feel seen, heard, all in the same breath.
On the business side, I’ll definitely have my own team, my own brand deals, and multiple streams of income coming from DJing, content creation, and creative direction. And I won’t just be part of the culture, I’ll be helping shape it.
The industry is shifting more toward authenticity and personal branding, and that’s exactly where I shine. I plan to ride that wave — and build my own boat while I’m at it.
