Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Ross.
Jada, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Lord truly blessed me by placing me in the loving arms of my family. I was raised by and around creative, disciplined, faith led people who worked hard with a focus on deeply rooted familial values and traditions. Being molded by such intentional and determined people with great intentions has always served as a solid foundation for each and every move that has led up to today. I can’t talk about me without talking about them. They’re truly inspiration, guidance, and a huge driving factor behind a lot of what has taken place.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
To roughly quote late Nipsey Hussle’s “Perfect Ten”, I’ve gone through every emotion. I’ve been extremely fortunate throughout my journey but I had to learn pretty early on that there will be times in all of our lives where we are called to face challenging experiences that are unexpected and seem so unfair. I’ve taken losses, been doubted, ignored, and nervous. There has been so much I’ve had to do and learn pretty much on my own. We could focus an entirely separate article on articulating the tests and challenges I’ve navigated, but I make the conscious choice to re-frame each experience and allow them to grow me, not slow me. Psalm 27:13-14 states, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart.”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Since we last spoke, I’ve expanded what started as a Facebook post I made as a teenager into a thriving dessert catering and entertainment service. Ja’s Treat Haven has become a staple in the lives of more members of the community than I ever expected. I’m most proud that I can offer access to affordable and safe service in neighborhoods big businesses look over and stereotype. Being personally welcomed into homes, churches, schools, community centers, and events during some of the most intimate times year after year is an utmost honor. Apart from that, I’ve also cultivated a successful career in technology by working with industry leading tech companies in service of individuals both nationally and internationally, as well as social media influencing.
What does success mean to you?
Success is subjective and has levels in my opinion. I personally find success in every day. At this present moment I measure success not only by what one accomplishes for self, but also by how one’s contributions and undertakings impact the world around them, especially outside of our own.
