Today we’d like to introduce you to LuJaclyn Richardson.
Hi LuJaclyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At the beginning of my journey, I wasn’t certain which career path I would ultimately pursue. However, as the eldest of three daughters, leadership has always come naturally to me. Whether I was organizing our childhood “Cousin’s Club” with my sisters, Renata and Jevita, and our closest cousins, arranging acapella songs for church, family reunions, and community events, or serving in leadership roles within school organizations, my sorority, and civic groups—leading and inspiring others has consistently been at the heart of who I am.
From an early age, my parents, Richard and Ganette, instilled in us the importance of education, hard work, and dreaming boldly. I’ll never forget the day my mother sat us down and declared what each of us would become. She looked at me and said, “You are smart, you are a leader—you’re going to be an attorney.” She told my middle sister she would be a doctor, and my youngest sister a teacher. Remarkably, we each fulfilled the roles she envisioned for us. That moment taught me a profound life lesson: the power of words and belief. As Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Inspired by that truth, I now encourage my children every day to believe in themselves and to pursue their dreams with determination and purpose.
After graduating with honors from THE Central High School in Memphis, I was awarded a four-year scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin. I majored in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and minored in Psychology. While on campus, I contributed to the student newspaper and served as its Advertising Manager, further developing my writing, communication, and leadership skills.
Following my undergraduate studies, I was accepted into the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Law school was both demanding and transformative. During that time, I worked in the law school library and had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Judge John McCarroll, Jr. in Shelby County Circuit Court, Division I. After earning my Juris Doctor, I successfully passed the Tennessee Bar Exam on my first attempt.
My legal career began at Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc., where I served as a staff attorney representing underserved clients in areas such as family law, consumer protection, and landlord/tenant disputes. I later joined the personal injury law firm Nahon, Saharovich & Trotz, PLC, as an associate attorney. In that role, I handled insurance negotiations, liens, subrogation matters, and complex legal issues on behalf of injured clients. These experiences prepared me to take the next step—establishing my own legal practice, where I continue to serve my community with compassion, diligence, and integrity.
In 2003, I met my husband, Todd, and we married in 2006. He has been my steadfast partner and greatest encourager, always supporting my dreams. Together, we are the proud parents of two incredible children, Jordan and Gabby. I am deeply grateful for the life God has given me and remain committed to using my voice, my story, and my profession to uplift others and create lasting impact.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Law school has been the most challenging experience of my life, both personally and academically. It’s not a decision one makes lightly, and even as a part-time student, I found the level of dedication and focus required to simply pass each class to be immense. The experience pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of and taught me the true meaning of resilience.
Along the way, I built lasting relationships with classmates—now colleagues—many of whom have gone on to lead successful careers as firm partners, solo practitioners, and even judges. The bond we share is rooted in the shared adversity we faced and overcame together. More than anything, law school taught me that with enough determination and hard work, no goal is out of reach.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am the oldest of three sisters, each of us about two years apart in age. We were raised in a loving home by both of our parents, who instilled in us the value of education and the foundation of our Christian faith.
Though I was somewhat shy as a child, I was also deeply curious and creative. I found joy in singing—whether in the church choir or at community events—spending time with family and friends, reading, and crocheting. I was actively involved in my church as a youth leader and took on leadership roles in school, serving as captain of the cheerleading team and being honored as homecoming queen my senior year of high school.
Family has always been at the heart of my life. I share a strong bond with my extended family on both my mother’s and father’s sides. In fact, we typically have two to three family reunions each year. These gatherings are filled with laughter, celebration, and love. If you’ve ever been to one of our events, you know you’re welcomed with open arms—because in our family, friends quickly become family.
