Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonas Boughter.
Hi Jonas, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi there. My name is Jonas Boughter. I’m a 22 year old artist and musician born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I’ve been making music since about six years old and produce for different artists as well as make my own music. Recently, I have decided to start raising money for breast cancer patients after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago. Her cancer is now in remission, but I’ve decided to help other people out who don’t have the same resources to fight these challenges through a charity called The Pink Fund. Every 250 dollars donated I will do a new challenge on instagram live such as freestyling, standup comedy and dancing all for an hour straight for each challenge. I am hoping to do some good for those who need it in the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some obstacles and challenges in my life, have been trying to spread my music and figure out a way to make money off of my art. I would also say when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer that was pretty big for everybody in my family. She has raised me into the man I am today and having a person that means so much to you at risk is very hard to go through that.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently make music and produce for other artists. I recently released my 4th album on SoundCloud and plan on making much work as well as collaborating with many more upcoming artists in the city.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe that making art is important as it gives one to express themselves in a unique way. I also want to always bring up the people around me as there are many artists in Memphis who are very passionate about what they do and what they create. I also want to continue raising money in the future for different causes as there’s always somebody who needs help in this world.
