Hi Lesly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sema Skin Studio 2023 originated under LuxurybyNicoleLeslyllc established in 2017. My journey began as an esthetician straight out of school and on forward to my own suite. This is the Bible Belt and back in 2014 finding a job in a medi spa was pretty difficult. I collaborated with a massage therapist we did spa parties at the beginning of my journey and that company went on to move to Atlanta. Honestly as an educator I decided to take it upon myself and seek out how to become the best at skin rejuvenation. So my hunt was skincare conventions, online classes, podcast, and social media. My vacations were pretty much visits to esthetic conventions in different states for years. I also held down a full-time job to fund my dreams. Fast forward to 2023 and a bigger commercial space was presented to me by my landlord at the time that owned the suite I was current in. The new adventure was the buildout across from Crosstown Concourse which took a whole year to complete. I visualized building a team but who the team would be, I wasn’t sure. So I focused on the new space at hand.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Struggles with the buildout and not getting a true time completion. I lost many people who wanted to collaborate and work while waiting on the builder. Getting in the building and making sure you don’t spend all your money on decor, even though a spa environment is necessary. Dealing with people who say they want to work and do this and that but they really want you to do all the work. Wanting to house products, yet tariffs are now the objective. Wanting to quit my full-time job; yet the economy is truly in a recession..
We’ve been impressed with Sema Skin Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sema means heaven or Treasure in Hebrew. “Go Se_Ma about your skin”

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe a business can experience both luck and timing. Timing is usually the more strategic version of luck. I think positioning myself to want to grow and do more lead me to meet the right people at the right time. As I look back in the journal where I right all my ideas, I had me moving to a bigger space listed as a 10 year goal.
