Today we’d like to introduce you to Gen.
Hi Gen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from New York City and I moved to Memphis almost 7 years ago. I’ve been a professional singer/entertainer all of my adult life which has taken me to 97 countries and all 7 continents. I’ve worked on cruise ships for almost 20 years and I started out as a lounge singer and made my way up to headlining huge theaters on 8 different cruise lines. Performing is my passion and last year I decided to start helping others achieve their dreams. I started GMajor Productions which is an artist management company, in hopes to pay it forward to other talented acts. This year, I’ve been able to get some Memphis singers performing on Riverboats sailing up and down the Mississippi River. I’ve been fortunate to work with such incredible talent. I hope to grow the company and provide artists with the break they deserve.
My other half is a Memphian and he’s the reason I moved to Memphis. His name is Louis. We met through our passion for music. Louis was the head audio engineer at BB Kings for many years. He toured with Al Green, John Legend and recently made his mark on The Queens Tour with Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan and Stephanie Mills. He was just featured in Mix Magazine for his incredible skills. Louis is also a recording engineer…..The BEST in Memphis!
Together we are a musical force! We have worked together to create a world where we never work a day in our lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Missing my family and friends is the hardest part of my journey. Spending holidays alone, on the road…..on a cruise ship….being alone all the time
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a headliner working on Cruise Ships all over the world. I perform a show called “A Tribute to the Divas”.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Aside from music, I do enjoy traveling. I’ve been to 97 countries and I’m planning to reach 100 very soon. When asked what my favorite country is, my answer will always be Italy.
