Today we’d like to introduce you to Dareel Sco.
Hi Dareel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a father a husband a boss and an employee. My passion for music assisted me in becoming an entrepreneur. I’m a lyrical rapper as well as a soulful songwriter. I love playing with word patterns. Creating my own way to put rhyme schemes together to make a meaningful song is one of the best feelings in the world for me. I’m an owner of an entertainment company called LUVFIRST THE MOVEMENT LLC. We are about spreading genuine love throughout communities in need by hosting live entertainment and community charity events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to remain extra consistent in the local music scenes through Virginia just to get minimal recognition. Looking back at all of the obstacles makes me appreciate my journey. It’s actually the primary reason I’m still as consistent with the musical content I release. I still don’t feel I get the recognition I deserve from my peers. Not sure why especially because LuvFirst has been the movement the whole time they’ve known me. I really enjoy inspiring. So much that over time I’ve been able to gain attention from younger artists that let me know how much they appreciate my presence in music. I was once that 19 or 20 yr old kid ready to take the world over with my music. A lot of younger artists have watched me stay consistent no matter what. I’ve been through the janky promoters of the world that charge artists a huge fee to perform because a big shot A&R will be in attendance. Just for you to show up and the A&R doesn’t even watch the performances. I’ve been through multiple promotional scammers. I’ve lost tons of money trying to gain exposure. It’s really hard for an independent artist to regulate between a real opportunity or a scam. I’m talking about loosing thousands of dollars in my 15 yrs in this business over petty scams. I wouldn’t wish that type of loss on anyone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve created at least 3 thousand songs in my time as a musician. 20 mixtapes, 10 ep’s, 3 LP’s , 11 singles and 71 Music Videos available on YouTube. I just love to create content. I hear a beat and that’s where it starts. After all these years I still get the same feeling when I create something that I want to showcase after all of these years. I don’t believe I’ll ever stop. Creating music helps me stay level minded through my daily tasks of being a father as well as a delivery driver for the United Parcel Service (UPS). During the day I’m a delivery driver and by night I’m a father for my 4 children. Music keeps me in tune with my purpose rather than focused on the daily tasks of fatherhood. My wife and children know how much music means to me. They know it makes me happy so they support me by allowing me to create without interruption at times that I need solitude. I love them for that. I love to hear one of my daughters ask her sister “where’s dad? “ And she replies “ I don’t know. Probably making another song”. It’s the best feeling in the world for them to see my grind knowing that their dad has something to say.
