Check Out Rob Love’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Love.

Hi Rob , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was interested in stand up comedy as a child. I recall asking my Dad (my comedic inspiration) why he wasn’t a comedian because he was so funny and when he told me he didn’t want to be a comic. I said “tell me how and I’ll be a comedian” but he didn’t know how. Since I didn’t know how to pursue that goal I focused on my desire to be a professional basketball player and felt that stand up comedy would be my “career after basketball”. After playing college basketball at few different schools, I returned to Memphis and pursued a career as a massage therapist, In 2009, I rediscovered my Love for making people laugh while my brother EP the Voice and Brian Hall were hosting an open mic at Cafe Soul on main street. I tried stand up comedy for the first time and it didn’t go as well as I would’ve liked but a spark was lit and I haven’t looked back.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say it’s been smooth with a few bumps along the way. I think my previous life experience prepared me for comedy business so I knew early this isn’t about making friends (although I’ve gained some along the way) it’s about walking in my purpose and following the path for my life and pursuing it passionately.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a stand up comedian. I have been telling jokes and creating laughter for over 15 years professionally. I’m known for sharing positive energy, spreading Love and laughs to audiences all over the country. I have been featured at the World Famous Apollo Comedy Club in New York, at the Comedy Store in LA, as well as the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. I am proud of the work I’ve put in on the craft of comedy and the progress I’ve made. I work with comics who I grew up watching on TV and in movies and that is sometimes surreal to me. It’s been a fun journey and I’m enjoying the ride.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future include shooting a comedy special, continuing to create shows and events that enhance the art community in Memphis and other cities that I frequent, while giving Memphians and tourist fun and safe entertainment options. I also will continue to travel and tour not just the country but all over the world. I’m excited about my Laughter Heals Comedy Show Aug 30th 2025 at Shaunee’s. 3719 Hickory Hill Rd Memphis TN.
