Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Sipe.
Hi Faith, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved the art of noticing. When I first picked up a camera, I wasn’t any good—a little 12-year-old homeschooled girl just looking for a hobby (and trust me, I tried a lot). But something about this one stuck. Maybe it was the way I could play with light. Maybe it was the thrill of freezing people and colors in time. Or maybe, it just became an extension of how I saw the world—an invitation to slow down and really look.
So I kept going. I took my camera everywhere. I was obsessed. Photography felt like the one thing I needed to get better at. And as I grew, so did my understanding of light, timing, and storytelling. That passion eventually led me to study photography at the University of Memphis, where I fell in love with film. In a digital, fast-paced culture, film slows you down. It makes you think. It asks you to do the photography math, to trust your instincts, and to be okay with imperfection. I learned to love the full process—from shooting to developing to printing.
After college, I knew I wanted to keep a camera in my hands for as long as I could. So I juggled four other jobs while continuing to create on the side, hoping and praying that one day I’d get to photograph people full time. In August of 2024, that dream finally became a reality.
It’s been a wild ride—one I don’t take for granted and know is such a gift. I don’t know everything, and I’m still learning as I go. But I’m endlessly thankful for the people who’ve believed in me, the lessons along the way, and the clients who’ve trusted me to share in their stories.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve known what I wanted to do with my life ever since I picked up a camera at 12—but I had no idea how it would actually play out or how to make it happen. That sense of clarity is a gift, and I don’t take it for granted. But even with all the passion and drive in the world, I didn’t have a clear path forward.
So, I tried it all. Every style of photography. Every job I could pick up to fund the one thing I truly cared about. Outside of not having a mapped-out route, I think most creatives wrestle with comparison—and I’m no exception. It can feel like you’re doing everything “right,” putting yourself out there over and over again, and still not seeing things click the way you hoped.
One of the biggest turning points for me was learning to trust that how you show up—both in your business and in your everyday life—matters. The way you treat your clients, your friends, your family, your coworkers… it all shapes your work. It all builds something. And it creates the kind of connection that can’t be manufactured. That mindset shift changed everything for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist at heart. Photography is both my work and my art—it’s how I make sense of the world and how I connect with others. I have the honor of capturing people’s stories across many seasons of life. While I’m currently focusing more on weddings and couples, I love how photography continues to seep into all kinds of spaces—family, creative, personal, and everything in between.
What sets my work apart is my commitment to seeing through someone’s lens of life—not just documenting what something looks like, but what it felt like to be there. My creativity lives in the small details: the way hands reach for each other, the softness of a glance, the beauty in the quiet. I want the images we make together to feel like you—timeless, honest, and deeply personal.
What I’m most proud of is the trust people give me. For me, photography isn’t about creating a highlight reel—it’s about preserving the real, raw, often overlooked moments that make life meaningful. I hope the connections I build with people aren’t just for one day, but something we carry with us—something that matters long after the photos are taken.
