Hi Wendi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Like many entrepreneurs, my story is one of answering a calling. I’ve worked as a consultant for one of the nations largest body care brands, as a Healthy Eating Specialist for Whole Foods, co-owned one Memphis’ #1 boutiques and served as an Intro Spa Educator for Aveda in Dallas, Texas. Others have always turned to me for honest holistic beauty and wellness guidance. It was in my last corporate position as a Spa Educator that I really felt it was time to create a sanctuary that offered deeply healing spa treatments using the purest plant alchemy skincare available. Thus, Misaotra was manifested in 2016. After 12 very successful years in Dallas, Texas, my heart’s longing to return to my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee could no longer be ignored. After 9 years of building loyal Dallas clientele, I packed up Misaotra Beauty Sanctuary and my lil’ family consisting of one creative 13 year old, 2 cats, recent borzoi puppy addition, tons of plants, and we landed right in Overton Square, 38104, my home, this February 2025.
For those who don’t me, I’m a single mom, homeschooler, and magic maker. I love the outdoors, gardening, making herbal and tallow based nourishing skincare for my brand MISAOTRA MADE, oil painting, and learning what makes us most human in connection with all beings of our world.
Honoring a holistic approach to skin care that has helped my clients achieve healthy radiant skin, I adore what I do. As a licensed aesthetician and educator, my passion has always been to share my knowledge of ancient skin remedies and techniques. Client education is one element of care that continues to set Misaotra apart from others in the quickly growing world of earth based organic aesthetics.
With an interest in earth-centric living and maintaining a youthful luminous glow naturally, I began studying the Ayurvedic system of India and the healing arts of plant medicine early in life and have pursued this passion for more than two decades. The connection between mind, body, spirit and overall skin health continues to fuel my passion to help others attain their best, healthiest skin ever and overall well-being. Combining the healing systems of Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine with Nordic + Appalachian Herbalism, I curate a beauty ritual unique to your skin’s needs so it’s able to self-heal and glow with life. A pioneer in my field in my field as an Aesthetician/ Functional Facialist in Memphis certified in the patented Nefeli Gua Sha, Thai Poultice and Dien Chan Zone, Italian Facial Reflexology.
Now I’m back home to share the magic of a NEW BEAUTY ERA with my Memphis Muses. Fortunately, Memphis is great place to visit and many of my Dallas Muses have already flown in for spa weekend getaways with their besties.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! Just taking the leap to create a business of such depth and putting myself out there in a city where I knew virtually no one took courage and faith. Learning to live without having a steady paycheck and going through a divorce was extremely awakening the first year of business too. But, every challenge has been a lesson and strengthened the core of Misaotra. Every moment is a blessing. As Misaotra’s reputation for honest skin rituals and results quickly grew, the road got smoother with a year ahead booking schedule and a waitlist a mile long. There were certainly more speed bumps along the way with a global shutdown that closed Misaotra for 3 months and was our bridge to switching to homeschool. Luckily Misaotra thrived through it all. But even with all the success, I wanted to come home to my family, friends, and community. There was no way around this challenge of moving my practice and literally starting all over. I’m here for it! Loving this opportunity to meet new clients, and grow in my personal and professional life here in Memphis.

What truly sets me apart is not just my unique bank of ancient ancestral wisdom paired with certified skill set of modalities, it’s my conviction that beauty is rooted in more than looks, that aging is a privilege, and that skin integrity blooms when we nourish ourselves alongside our world.
