Today we’d like to introduce you to Randell Richmond.
Hi Randell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised in the small town of Bolivar, TN. In smaller areas like this, there is not much access to resources to education when it comes to real estate related topics. I have seen people close to me being sold homes and told that there is not any reason to have an inspection only to experience major issues before they could even have a housewarming. I had an older fraternity brother named Robert Lee suggest to me that I should get my license due to my vibrant personality and drive to help others so in 2021, I decided to pursue that goal in order to bridge the gap between the knowing and unknowing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been far from a smooth road for me. When I received my license, the nation was in the thick of the covid pandemic which made it tough for me to dive straight into the market. Instead of hanging my head, I started reading thoroughly through contracts to understand exactly what is being said and building my team of lenders, attorneys, etc so that I could be prepared for when that first client did come my way. I have also encountered deals where my client’s garage railings collapsed as soon as they finished closing and they arrived to their new home, brand new hvac unit decided not to work for another client after she closed, sellers failed to mention to me that they have over $10K in a second lien on their home, etc, but by the grace of God, I was able to provide resolutions to these issues and my clients were extremely grateful.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate agent in the West TN/NW MS area as well as a Physical therapist assistant at Regional One Health. I specialize in the residential homebuying/selling field. I am most proud of the fact that even though I am not a full time realtor, I am still able to give my clients full time dedication because I do have a supportive wife and I know how important this purchase or sell is to another individual. The one thing that sets me apart from others is what I feel like many frown upon in the real estate industry and that is the fact that I am not a full time agent meaning that when I work with you, this is more than just a sale to me and I give my all to you not just for the benefit of a paycheck (even though it is a great addition lol). I am also proud of the fact that even though business has been successful for me, I am sticking to what got me into this industry and that is giving back to my hometown. I have hosted homebuying seminars, had phone calls and messages with many people to educated them even if they were choosing not to work with me in the end, and on August 23rd, I will be hosting a homebuying education/community day event that is free providing education, bouncy house, face painting, food trucks, balloon animals and more to the city of Bolivar.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For those starting out, I say that before you begin, figure out your “why” and make sure that it is more than just a paycheck because you will need to lean on that when things are not so ideal. There is way more that goes into it than the videos and pictures you see on social media because you are assisting individuals with different personalities with one of the most important purchases of their lives. You also have to remember that you get out what you put into your business. There may be an extended time that you will not have no business. This is the time where you create your content, reach out to others, build your team, and take every moment possible to make yourself trustworthy when that client comes knocking on your door. NEVER pass up an open opportunity to inform other about the services that you offer as you are a walking billboard.
