We recently had the chance to connect with Takaya Eafen and have shared our conversation below.
Takaya, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding is understanding that healing and the knowledge I seek comes with time and paitence. I recently became a mother and started a new career path, all while managing my businesses. I recently had to take a break due to mental health reasons in the past year and now I’m back better and determined to receive whats mines.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Takaya Eafen, mother , fashion designer , and artist. My brand is a mixture of fashion and design. I creative custom outfits based upon customer request; and I seek to produce two collections very soon. I recently began working with prom and bridal attire. What makes my brand unique is that everything I have created was my first time making it. I always excel and expand and I am open to learning new skills. I am currently working on establishing and brand identity to be recognizable and official.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that made me see the world was when I had to learn emotional intelligence at a very young age. I always like to learn so anything I felt I sought to understand why and this helped me to understand why people are the way that they are and form consideration and to never accept you in everyone. Expect nothing to avoid disappointment.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I used my pain as power when I became a young adult and decided to go to school for what I actually wanted to do. At age 18 I realized my life is what I make it. Whatever I don’t like in my life, it is up to me to finish it
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
God. I admire the patience, compassion, kindness given rather than his power. I aspire to be as strong:
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
Generational wealth considering my people was striped or everything and restricted to grow financially, mentally, environmentally, the list goes on.
