Linneka Watson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Linneka, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, a normal day for me starts with preparing for the day. I make sure to move my body, eat something, and then get ready for work. From there, I’m at the daycare where I work as the marketing manager. They’ve been a client of mine for some time now and I handle all of their marketing, social media, and design needs. It’s exciting because they’ve been in business almost 20 years but never had an online presence, so I’m helping them grow in a new way.
Outside of that, I also dedicate time to one of my church clients, so most days I’m literally working from morning to night. It’s a lot, but it’s so worth it. And when I do have free time, you can usually catch me with family and friends, trying something fun around the city, or enjoying my two favorite things traveling and eating good food.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Linneka Watson, and I’m the owner of Linneka’s Kreative Studio. I actually started designing back in high school and it grew once I made it to college at Grambling State University, where I would create flyers and graphics for campus events. What started as something I did for fun quickly grew into a real passion, and over time I realized design wasn’t just about making things look good, it was about helping people tell their stories. That creative spark pushed me to take a leap of faith and turn what I loved into a business.
Today, Linneka’s Kreative Studio specializes in branding, design, and marketing for small businesses, churches, nonprofits, and community organizations. What makes my work unique is that I merge creativity with strategy—I focus on giving my clients visuals that not only stand out but also connect with their audience in meaningful ways. From rebranding daycares to creating worship service graphics and campaigns for churches, my heart is always rooted in community and impact. I love knowing that the work I do doesn’t just stop at a logo or flyer—it helps build legacies, visions, and connections that last.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what breaks the bonds between people is lack of communication and honesty. Once trust is broken, it’s hard to look at that person the same, and a lot of times people let pride get in the way of fixing things. What restores those bonds is accountability—being real about what happened, taking responsibility, and actually showing up different. It takes effort on both sides, but when there’s genuine love and respect, healing is possible.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I’d say one thing I changed my mind about after failing hard was realizing that the world doesn’t stop when you do. No matter what happens, you have to get back up and keep going. I went through a rough patch where I felt like my life was falling apart. I was losing clients, unsure of my next step, and honestly thought it was the end. But I came back stronger. That experience taught me that everything really does happen for a reason, whether it’s a lesson or a blessing. Through it all, I’ve learned to lean on faith, persevere, and trust that things will always get better.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would definitely say that being supportive and showing up really matters to me. I’m the type of person who gives 1000% if I care about you, I’m going to be there, no matter what. Whether it’s celebrating wins, helping through hard times, or just being present, I make it a point to pour into the people I love. At the end of the day, I value loyalty and genuine connection, and I just want that same energy reciprocated. That’s what keeps my circle strong.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do. If I wasn’t doing this, I honestly don’t know where I’d be or even who I’d be. For a long time, I searched for my passion, and nothing has ever felt as fulfilling or exciting as the work I do now. I love what I do and how it’s shaped me into the person I am today. It’s not perfect, nothing ever is but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My only prayer is to keep growing and becoming better at it every step of the way.
