Story & Lesson Highlights with Samantha Elice

We recently had the chance to connect with Samantha Elice and have shared our conversation below.

Samantha , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m intentionally walking the path God has laid out for me. It’s not always easy, but I’ve been learning to trust Him more deeply—sacrificing comfort, seeking clarity through prayer, and aligning my choices with purpose. I’m no longer just moving—I’m moving with direction.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Samantha Elice, and I’m an R&B and Neo-Soul artist rooted in Memphis with a sound that blends raw storytelling, soulful vocals, and bold feminine energy. I grew up singing in my church choir and was heavily influenced by my father, a blues musician who toured internationally—so music has always been in my blood. My songs are a reflection of my journey: grounded in self-love, growth, and emotional honesty, with a vibe that’s both classic and fresh.

What makes my brand unique is the intentionality behind everything I do—from the lyrics to the visuals to the live experience. Whether it’s a sultry Afrobeat track like “Durrty Whine” or something more soulful like “Loving My Melanin,” I want listeners to feel seen, empowered, and connected. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my catalog and growing my digital presence while staying rooted in authenticity and storytelling.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a fearless, wide-eyed girl who believed anything was possible. I saw the world as rainbows and gumdrops—limitless, full of magic, and mine for the taking. I wasn’t worried about obstacles or expectations; I was just dreaming freely, moving with confidence and wonder.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep your core dreams and desires, and hold them with care. That spirit will ultimately lead you to your destiny.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That virality equals value, and that artists must constantly chase trends to stay relevant. The music industry often overlooks the power of authenticity, longevity, and soulful storytelling in favor of short-term visibility. But real impact doesn’t always show up in numbers—it shows up in connection.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say I led with heart, created art that made people feel seen, and stayed true to myself even when it wasn’t the easy route. That I inspired others to trust their voice, love themselves deeper, and move with bold, soulful intention. That my music helped someone heal or dream again.
