Today we’d like to introduce you to Syng Saikou.
Hi Syng, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always said music chose me before I chose it. Growing up in Memphis , a city with such a rich history of soul, blues, and R&B , I was surrounded by music that carried both pain and beauty. As a child, I found myself writing songs and melodies as a way to express feelings I couldn’t always say out loud. Over time, those notebooks full of lyrics became my foundation.
I started recording as a teenager and performing locally whenever I could. In the beginning, it was tough. I didn’t have all the resources or connections, but I had a passion that kept me going. I blended what I loved most , the emotional storytelling of classic R&B, the nostalgia of Y2K vibes, and my own personal experiences , to create a sound that felt like me. That’s how Syng Saikou was born.
The journey hasn’t been easy. There were setbacks, doubts, and times where I wondered if people would really connect with my sound. But every time I got on stage or dropped a new song, someone would tell me how much it resonated with them — and that kept me going. Singles like Know Me and Existence ft. Big Boogie gave me momentum, and now my first project, Saikou: Volume I, is streaming worldwide, reaching listeners in the U.S., London, Korea, and Poland.
Alongside the music, I’ve embraced the title “The Memphis Princess of R&B,” because I want people to feel an entire experience when they hear my name. From the visuals, to the style, to the performances, it’s about more than songs, it’s about building a movement.
Today, I’m still writing my story, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Every challenge has made me stronger, and every win , big or small , is proof that faith, hard work, and consistency really do pay off. I know this is just the beginning of the Syng Saikou era, and I can’t wait for what’s next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Chasing a dream as big as music means you’re going to hit bumps along the way. For me, one of the biggest struggles has been balancing my passion with real-life responsibilities. There were times when opportunities didn’t come as quickly as I hoped, or the times when I skipped meals to invest in studio time
I’ve also faced the challenges that come with being a woman in the industry , sometimes not being taken seriously, being overlooked, or having to prove myself twice as hard. On top of that, there’s the emotional side. Music is deeply personal to me, so every setback can feel heavier. There were moments where I questioned if I should keep going, if my voice was truly being heard.
But each struggle has shaped me. It taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of believing in my own vision. Instead of letting obstacles break me, I used them as fuel to keep pushing. Every time I thought about giving up, something reminded me why I started , whether it was a fan reaching out, a performance that felt electric, or simply my love for R&B.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it. The struggles gave me my story, and they continue to make the victories even sweeter.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is rooted in music, but it extends far beyond the stage. As an R&B singer and songwriter from Memphis, I specialize in creating music that blends soulful storytelling with Y2K-inspired vibes. I’m known for my energy, my distinct voice, and my ability to transform a song into a full experience. When people hear the name Syng Saikou, I want them to think of more than just music , I want them to feel a movement, a world where sound, visuals, and energy all connect.
One of my proudest accomplishments so far has been releasing my debut project, Saikou: Volume I. It represents not only my growth as an artist but my resilience as a woman carving out her own space in the industry. Seeing it streamed across the U.S., London, Korea, and Poland has been a dream because it shows that Memphis R&B has a place on the global stage.
But what sets me apart is that I’ve never limited myself to just one lane. In addition to my music, I created The Garden Esthetics , my beauty and wellness brand that focuses on self-care, confidence, and healing. Whether it’s through a song, a live show, or a spa service, my mission is the same: to pour into people, uplift them, and remind them of their worth.
At the core of everything I do is a dedication to authenticity and connection. I’m building more than a career , I’m building a legacy that merges artistry, entrepreneurship, and community. That’s what makes me different, and that’s what keeps me inspired.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the music industry is shifting into a space where authenticity is going to matter more than ever. For a while, trends and algorithms have been leading the way, but I believe the next 5–10 years will be about who can connect with people on a deeper level. Listeners are craving realness again ,voices that feel raw, stories that feel personal, and artists who give them more than just a single song. R&B especially is on the rise; it’s coming back stronger, with new artists breathing fresh life into the genre while still honoring its roots.
At the same time, I see technology continuing to shape how we share and experience music , from AI visuals to virtual performances , but I also think the most powerful artists will be the ones who balance innovation with authenticity. It’s not just about streaming numbers anymore, it’s about building community.
In the wellness and beauty industry, which I’m also deeply invested in through The Garden Esthetics, I see a similar trend. People want experiences that make them feel whole — self-care that’s not just surface-level but truly healing. In the next decade, I think music, beauty, and wellness will overlap even more, creating lifestyle brands that touch every part of a person’s well-being.
For me, that’s exciting because it means I get to keep merging both sides of what I do: creating art that feeds the soul and building spaces that nurture the body and spirit.
