Hidden Gems: Meet Scott Tashie of City Silo Table + Pantry; Flyway Brewing Memphis; Juice Bar Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Tashie.

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My wife and business partner, Rebekah, and I were both born and raised in Memphis, and this city has shaped everything about who we are – as people, parents, and entrepreneurs. What began as a shared passion for food and hospitality grew into a passion for creating brands and spaces that people can enjoy. The customer deserves that, and we take the hospitality aspect of our business very seriously.

City Silo Table + Pantry started over eight years ago with a goal to redefine comfort food using clean, wholesome ingredients. We wanted to prove that healthy food could still be hearty, flavorful, and fun. Since opening our first location in East Memphis and expanding into Germantown and Little Rock, we’ve stayed true to that mission.

As we grew, so did our vision. We opened Juice Bar Memphis, offering plant-based smoothies and snacks, and became partners in bringing Flyway Brewing from Little Rock to Memphis, a concept rooted in community, great beer, and scratch-made food. With a projector screen, live music venue, games, and many TVs, there is something for everyone there.

Now, through our hospitality company, Banded Hospitality Group, we’re bringing all of these ideas and the incredible people behind them under one umbrella as we continue to expand and explore new ventures.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth, but always worth it. The restaurant industry can be unpredictable, and we’ve faced just about every challenge imaginable – staffing shortages, supply chain issues, construction delays, and, of course, a pandemic that changed everything overnight.

What’s carried us through is our team and our culture. We built our business on core values that guide every decision: never take shortcuts, focus on growth, and always keep people first.

Every setback became a teaching moment. We’ve learned that you can’t control everything, but you can control how you respond, and that mindset has allowed us to evolve, adapt, and thrive.

We’ve been impressed with City Silo Table + Pantry; Flyway Brewing Memphis; Juice Bar Memphis, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our parent company, Banded Hospitality Group, brings together a family of brands united by the shared purpose of creating memorable dining experiences that bring people together.

That includes City Silo Table + Pantry, in Memphis, Germantown, and Little Rock; Juice Bar Memphis; and Flyway Brewing Memphis, a local craft brewery with a vibrant, community-first atmosphere.

Each of our concepts has its own personality, but they’re all rooted in the same core values – great food, genuine hospitality, and a deep love for the communities we serve.

At the end of the day, we’re dedicated to building community and connections. From sourcing ingredients locally to supporting neighborhood initiatives, we believe that good food brings people together – that’s where the real magic happens.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Opening our first City Silo location was a leap of faith, and opening the second location at the beginning of COVID was a defining moment in our path. Little Rock was a new market for City Silo, over two hours away, which taught us how to operate outside of our comfort zone.

But through all of that, we learned that if you believe in your vision and put in the work, you can create your own luck and opportunity, and we always try to measure the risk and make sure that we can handle it. There is no such thing as a sure thing, but we can control how hard we work, how well we train our staff, and how prepared we are. We try to make every decision intentionally. We don’t chase trends, instead we aim to create something lasting that is built on the courage to take chances, balanced by the discipline to execute ideas thoughtfully.

By focusing on what we can control, we leave very little up to luck. Every day, we try to push out of our comfort zone a little bit more – while remaining calculated and responsible.
