Check Out Valisha Wilson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valisha Wilson.

Hi Valisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a little girl, I was always very unique. I had leadership skills at that time as well. I always felt uncomfortable being put in a box or having to follow rules. I knew then that I wanted and needed to work for myself. I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship, although working various jobs just to provide as a single mother. Every business that I own came from pain and not wanting to be a statistic. They all allow me to be interactive on a very personable level, displaying my personality. This comes natural, growing up in ministry as a Pastor’s daughter. My life has been filled with trial and error, which has been the blueprint for where I am now. I can’t truly say that I’ve ever planned for any of my businesses; as I’m a spontaneous person. I kind of just wake up one day and say, “I think I want to do something different.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship in itself is such a tumultuous journey. Although freedom is the goal, you can’t negate exhaustion, lack of resources, entitlement from others who haven’t invested, opposition, competition, fear, etc. It doesn’t come with a GPS and sometimes the destination wasn’t the initial journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a serial entrepreneur with a resume ranging from salon owner, licensed stylist, venue owner, event curator, event rentals, creative design consultant, event host, motivational speaker, and business consultant. I would say my specialty is creative design within the beauty industry and hospitality. I’m mostly proud of my latest endeavor in honor of my late Mom. I opened up an intimate venue, Gigi’s Event Center in November 2024. It’s more than a venue, it’s an atmosphere of healing and nurturing. I feel what sets me apart from others is my ability to have compassion and discernment to provide insight with emotional intelligence.

What does success mean to you?
Success is the ability to live and not exist. It’s aligning with your purpose and carrying out your vision. It’s reaching your goals without compromising your integrity. It’s learning without ego and evolving. It’s failing multiple times but having the cheat code to get better each time. Success isn’t money; it’s having discipline to maintain money. Success is making God a priority and not an option.
