Inspiring Conversations with Darrell Anthony of DCA Realty LLC and DCA Legacy Builders LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrell Anthony.

Hi Darrell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My Journey Into Real Estate — By Darrell C. Anthony

I come from a small town in Arkansas—Anthonyville—named after my family, and I’m a proud graduate of West Memphis High School. I went on to earn my B.A. from Arkansas State University and later completed my master’s in Christian Studies, which deeply shaped my faith-driven approach to leadership and business. I’m blessed to be married to my incredible wife and business partner, Dr. Chasity Dean Anthony, and together we have three amazing children who inspire everything we do. My entrepreneurial roots run deep—my family has owned and operated Anthony’s Funeral Home since 1946, and growing up in a legacy business taught me early about service, community, responsibility, and the importance of carrying your name with honor. That foundation continues to shape the way I lead, build, and serve today.

My journey in Real Estate began back in 2005–2006, sitting in my cubicle at Accredo Pharmacy in Memphis, TN. I remember the day clearly — dealing with a micromanaging supervisor, feeling boxed in, and quietly saying to myself, “Lord, I can’t do this for the rest of my life. If You show me the direction to go, I’ll follow it.”

Not long after that moment of surrender, I was at home lying in bed beside my wife, watching an episode of House Hunters. In that quiet space, I heard God speak to me clearly: real estate. And instantly, I said to myself, “I can see myself selling real estate.”

From there, I took action.
I enrolled in real estate school and became a licensed agent in 2006, starting with a small company—Four Seasons Realty—because it matched who I was then: small but full of potential. Soon after, I transitioned to Crye-Leike Realty, looking for broader opportunities to serve my Tennessee friends, coworkers from Accredo, and my extended network through Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. That move helped me stretch beyond Arkansas and into new communities that needed representation and care.

But it was my time at Crye-Leike that opened my eyes even more. I began to truly see the disparities and injustices African Americans faced in the real estate industry. And once you see it, you can’t unsee it. God placed another calling on my heart—to create something different, something better.

So in the midst of COVID, in July 2020, with my amazing wife by my side, I launched DCA Realty in Arkansas. Our mission was simple but powerful:
to create opportunities, access, and fairness for people who look like me, while serving every consumer with love, integrity, and excellence.

And God continued to increase our territory.
Since 2020, DCA Realty has expanded into Tennessee and Mississippi, and we have grown into a powerhouse team of 12 dedicated love for people professionals—the best in the Mid-South and beyond. And the truth is, none of what we do would be possible without our incredible team at DCA. It’s because of them—their dedication, professionalism, compassion, and shared belief in our mission—that we’re able to serve our customers at the level we do. Our success isn’t the work of one person; it’s the collective strength of a team that shows up every day with heart and excellence. They are the engine behind DCA Realty and DCA Legacy Builders, and I’m grateful for each one of them.

We didn’t stop at real estate.
We added our construction firm, DCA Legacy Builders, where we focus on creating affordable luxury housing in West Memphis—especially in neighborhoods that were once forgotten. Our goal is to bring quality, dignity, and value back to the community, one home at a time.

DCA stands for Distinction, Compassion, and Assurance—and we strive to embody those principles in everything we do. What started as a prayer in a cubicle has grown into a mission, a movement, and a legacy over a period of 19 yrs. It hasn’t been a overnight journey and I believe the Race isn’t given to the Swift, Nor the Strong, BUT to the one who ENDURES to the End!!! We are asking GOD to help us endure to the End!!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey definitely comes with its obstacles. Like anything new, there’s a learning curve, moments of doubt, and the need for constant intrinsic motivation to keep pushing forward. Nothing about this path was easy—especially dealing with the rejection that comes from people you thought would support your business but instead chose to work with others. Those moments can shake you, because you expect your circle to be your first clients. But what I learned is that God will send the right people, not just familiar people. Every “no” taught me resilience, sharpened my focus, and reminded me that this calling wasn’t dependent on who backed me—it was dependent on Who sent me. Those early and consistent disappointments builds the strength and determination that fuel me today.

We are most proud that our brand has stayed grounded in purpose and service and excellence with my Wife Dr. Chasity Dean Anthony pushing our marketing to new level and heights weekly through her gifts and talents. Team DCA Individually consistently pushes the brand and i’m proud of our unification that increases our brand awareness.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me or my brand is that real estate wasn’t part of my original plan— it was a calling placed on my heart by God. I was lying in bed watching House Hunters when I clearly felt Him tell me He wanted me in real estate, and every step since then—becoming an agent, a broker, and eventually a general contractor—came from obedience, not ambition. People also assume I’m an extrovert because of my personality, but at my core I’m an introvert who had to grow into leadership and still growing. I’m hands-on in our construction business, personally walking job sites and checking quality because I want every home we create to reflect excellence. And while many see the success, most don’t realize the long journey behind it: years in a corporate cubicle, tough learning curves, failed attempts, late-night studying for multiple state exams, and pushing through doubt. At the end of the day, I’m not just in the business of selling homes—I’m in the business of building people, restoring communities, and creating opportunities for families who have been overlooked for far too long. That purpose is what drives DCA Realty and DCA Legacy Builders, far more than profit ever could.
