Rev. Cameron Kuykindall’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rev. Cameron Kuykindall. Check out our conversation below.

Cameron, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing growth. In all that I do, I aim to grow better. If I stopped aiming to grow and get better with each experience, I would think I know everything and become complacent. Additionally, I would not be creative or innovative, but fine with the way things are and never seek to improve.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Cameron Kuykindall, the President/CEO of The CamKuy Group. The CamKuy Group is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to “provide transformative educational experiences that empower youth to transform our communities.” We do this through school and community outreach. We are grateful to currently serve over 4,000 students through our five partner schools, have donated over 600 toys to Youth Villages since 2020, distributed over 250 backpacks filled with school supplies since 2024, and transformed 100s of students’ lives through direct mentorship.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents work very hard, so it started with them. However, my grandmother is my inspiration for having a great work ethic. My grandmother, through a portion of her seventies, worked two jobs. She worked six days a week, and sometimes seven. She could have easily retired, but she loved being active and serving others. I share this same spirit of service that she has instilled in me, informally, through all things I do.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to a younger self, I would say be who God called you to be. It is so much easier to fit in with those around you; however, there’s a reward for those who labor in the Lord’s calling. Don’t doubt yourself, but remember that God has wonderful plans for you, beyond your imagination.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to our non-profit organization. Truly speaking, this is one of the hardest ventures we began some time ago. We started this organization in faith that God would provide us with everything we need (and He has). We don’t have all the money, resources, facilities, or infrastructure that other organizations have, but we are committed to the work and improving as we continue building our organization.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I will regret not taking more time for myself by traveling or just doing nothing. I am a person who believes I must be doing something at all times, but I am learning to take time for myself. I can’t fuel others if I am always running on empty. Therefore, going forward, I am going to be more intentional about taking time for myself to do things that I enjoy, and to do some of these with the ones I love the most.
