Community Highlights: Meet Tameko Purnell, Esq. of Greene Litigation Group, PLLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tameko Purnell, Esq..

Tameko, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Tameko M. Purnell is the CEO and Founder of Greene Litigation Group, PLLC. Her practice focuses on criminal defense, family law and personal injury. She also specializes in Estate Planning and Real Estate Law.

An honor student and Dean Ambassador at The Mississippi College School of Law, Tameko has clerked for The Mississippi Attorney Generals Office, The Mississippi American Civil Liberties Union, and the City of Memphis where she was instrumental in challenging the confederate soldier statues within public parks in Memphis, Tennessee. Tameko has also studied international business and contract law in China, South Korea, and Lille, France.

Prior to starting her own law firm, Tameko acted as Associate Attorney at Reaves Law Firm and Pickford Law where she played a pertinent part in obtaining millions of dollars for injured clients. She has also worked as a Compliance Director for one of the largest roofing companies in the mid-south. Attorney Purnell is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Memphis where she teaches Administrative Law and Procedure.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Attorney Purnell has worked as a litigation paralegal for several prominent firms in Memphis, drafting complex litigation motions and preparing for commercial trials.

Tameko Purnell, Esq., is licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi and awaiting reciprocity in the State of TN. She currently handles cases in the MS and TN area and is a member of the Mississippi Association for Justice (where she has served as Chair-Elect), The Mississippi Bar, The National Criminal Defense Association, and The Memphis Bar Association.

In her down time, Tameko likes to give back to her community, fight for adolecents, gardening and sitting near the ocean. A former basketball star, track runner, high jumper and cheerleader; Tameko is a lover of sports.

My goal is simple:

Because I live and breathe what it means to be a powerful woman—every single day; as a criminal defense and family law attorney, I stand in the trenches with people during the darkest, most defining moments of their lives. I fight for justice, protect families, and advocate fiercely, often in rooms where I’m underestimated but never outmatched.

I don’t just want success—I’m building a legacy. My mission is to show young women and men, especially those who come from underrepresented communities, that power doesn’t require permission. I want to use my platform to amplify stories that matter, reshape narratives about women in law, and ignite purpose in the next generation.

I bring authenticity, grit, and a story that’s still being written—and it’s one that can’t be ignored.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been everything except a smooth road. Some of the most chall struggles along the way have been overcoming passing the Bar Exam, raising daughters while building a law firm, and being oftentimes overlooked in an area that is mostly dominated by men.

However, when passion and purpose are aligned – you will always win.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Greene Litigation Group, PLLC is a boutique litigation firm rooted in advocacy, integrity, and community impact. We focus primarily on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury, representing clients during some of the most critical and emotionally charged moments of their lives. Whether someone is facing criminal charges, navigating a divorce or custody dispute, or recovering after an injury, our firm exists to ensure they are not just represented—but truly heard, protected, and fought for.

What the community should know is that we are not a “volume” firm. We are intentional, hands-on, and deeply invested in outcomes. Every case matters because every client matters. We take the time to explain the process, prepare thoroughly, and advocate relentlessly, both in and out of the courtroom. Our approach balances strong legal strategy with real-world understanding and compassion.

Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is that Greene Litigation Group stands for more than legal services. Our motto, “Balancing the Scales of Justice,” is not just branding—it’s a commitment. We are present in the community, not just when people are in crisis, but year-round through outreach initiatives like school supply drives, holiday food programs, Trunk-or-Treat events, and educational content that empowers people with knowledge of their rights. The brand reflects trust, accessibility, and strength.

What I want readers to know is that Greene Litigation Group is a firm built with purpose. We fight hard, we lead with integrity, and we believe that justice should be accessible, human, and unapologetically bold. When you walk through our doors—or see our name in the community—you should know that you’re dealing with a firm that shows up, stands firm, and gives everything to the people it serves.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Typically I engulf myself in new information pertaining to my practice areas of law. This is mostly comprised of reading updated case law, rulings from the Supreme Court, listening to podcast on law firm structure and value, and consistently learning to help strengthen my advocacy.

I also try to balance my scales by taking breaks, taking trips to reinvigorate my fight for my clients. Spending time giving back to schools, teachers and all within the community helps me to maintain my humbleness and to relax in my purpose.
