Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Rhodes Sr..
Hi Chad, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a father, entrepreneur, and creative visionary based in Memphis, Tennessee. I am the owner of The Bus Memphis, a roofless party bus experience that showcases the energy and culture of Midtown and Downtown Memphis.
My journey in the arts began in 2013 after returning to Memphis from New Orleans, where I pursued acting and storytelling as a way to connect, heal, and inspire. In 2019, I wrote my first stage play, FriEnemy, born from a profound personal betrayal that reshaped my life. That experience led to the loss of both a close friendship and a meaningful relationship with my daughter. Channeling that pain into writing became a turning point—one that fostered healing, purpose, and growth, and ultimately redirected my life toward creation rather than destruction.
Shortly thereafter, I founded Three Diamonds Productions, a production company dedicated to authentic, impactful storytelling. Despite a one-year delay due to COVID-19, FriEnemy premiered in 2021 and marked the beginning of a prolific creative chapter. Since then, I have written and produced three short films—Memories, H.E.R., and FRIDAY in Memphis—as well as three additional stage plays: Triangle, Til Death, and The O’Kays.
I am currently preparing to premiere my first feature film, FriEnemy: The Movie, adapted from my original stage play (Feb. 10th and 11th). Following its release, we will move into pre-production for The O’Kays feature film. Through my work, I strive to tell honest stories that reflect resilience, redemption, and the power of turning adversity into art.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Unfortunately no it has not been a smooth road. In the beginning I struggled with getting financial backing for my projects. Everything I did came out of pocket. Second and third jobs and a couple of maxed out credit cards we were able to make every productions happen when the finances were low.
Second struggle was trying to find a strong and loyal team. However now Three Diamonds Productions has a strong team and ready for the future.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a creator, director, producer and actor. I specialize in creating stories that funny, filled with drama and full of story lines you can relate too. My most proud accomplishment so far is completing my first feature film. The thing I think that sets me apart from others is the passion I have for my craft and how important the quality of each project needs to be before release. Last my consistency and perseverance through all challenges I’ve faced on this wonderful journey.
