Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Allen.
Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Michael Allen Photography is a highly successful photography business based in Memphis Tennessee. His style of photography attracts clients from a variety of industries. Having a unique lifestyle look is what most photographers aspire to achieve in their careers. Here’s some of Michael’s interview and unique notes that you will find interesting and inspiring.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“Let me tell you from my perspective, The photography world is exciting and rewarding. The challenges are to keep a fresh look and stay ahead of the trends. A lot of photographers lock into their style and rarely change. My approach has been to create images that stand out from the crowd of photographers. I look at photography as an artist,
I stay busy year round, year after year. When other photographers “ZIG” I try to “ZAG’ always trying to reinvent my work. That philosophy has worked well for me. I’ve learned to stay consistent but stay fresh.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
“As a photographer, I’ve learned over the years to specialize in several genres of photography based on my loves in life. Lifestyle Portraits, Architectural, Fashion, Weddings, Editorial, Products, and Food.
First of all I love portraits because I’m capturing real people as they go about their lives. The rest of the genres fall into place with portraits because I can show where they live, what they are doing, who they are close to, what they want to achieve in their lives, the clothes they like to wear, and the food that they like to eat.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
” to help a photographer find a mentor I suggest joining organizations like The Professional Photographers of America. The PPA offers yearly workshops, conventions, and ways to network. I also suggest to follow the best photographers. Follow the leader. Don’t be afraid to reach out and talk to those that you like, You’ll be amazed to find out that they love to share!
