Check Out Brandon Johnson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Johnson.

Hi Brandon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As an Army veteran that did 3 tours in Iraq. I began tattooing (self taught/ scratching lol)while still in the army. When I was honorably discharged, I was a house tattooed. I began my actual apprenticeship in 2010 and I’ve been tattooing for 16 years. All in the city of Memphis. During the pandemic a lot of things shut down, including tattoo operations.. that time off gave me time to think and reflect on future endeavors. I truly felt that when everything opened back up, GOD gave me an opportunity to venture out on my own. Along with a crew of artist I’ve been around for years, I decided to open Lonely Star tattoos… the whole meaning of the shop name is to ensure that anyone that comes into our shop recieves a tattoo that is meant ONLY for them. Hence the “LONELY STAR”. It’s been a blessing to go on 6 years within this space of growing and learning each day.. I pray that GOD blesses us with each growing moment as the years elapse.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I won’t say a smooth road.. lol.. along the way I’ve learned PATIENCE… dealing with all sorts of people from customers to co workers… from good apprentices and horrible ones. Even dealing with myself. I can actually say it’s molding me still to this day.. but I don’t regret any of it

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a tattoo artist. I underline the word artist 3 times because I am a student and fan of art. I’m learning and applying it everyday. I still draw and paint in my free time. I feel it’s a necessity in being an artist to be that way.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck
