Meet Princess Fiddler of Portland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Fiddler.

Hi Princess, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a very musical oriented family. My father would play songs on his guitar and my brother and I would sing along. I found a love of music through dance where I could express myself to interpret the music. I started singing at shows in middle school and have continued to perform since. I’m a self taught guitarist and pianist and I dabble on many instruments including drums, bass, and violin.
In 2023, I made the decision to attend WKU as a vocal music education major. With guidance, I’ve develop my craft and gained many positive skills of musicianship. In 2025, I released my first single followed by my first EP, Shadow Garden with the help of Spark Studios!
One thing you’ll learn about me is that I strive to do everything I can!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth sailing. It is so easy to burn out and feel unmotivated when things aren’t going your way. This often happens while pursuing my career path as a teacher. The constant stress of being the “perfect student” gets in the way of performance and enjoyment. However, music has always been an outlet for every emotion I’ve felt. I’m doing some type of music every day, usually for a grade, but I find peace in creating music for myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer, arranger, and instrumentalist, but I also have knowledge about music that most people don’t. As a future music educator, I know the parts of music that are second nature to song writers such as music theory, arranging, and vocal techniques. I specialize in teaching music to people have never had proper training.
I’m known for my powerhouse vocals on my tracks as well as during live performances. I’m also known for collaborating with my father, Jak Fiddler, on several of his works such as “Never Let You Go” and “La Vaca.” Besides providing vocals, I provide instrumentation for live performances and in the studio.
I think what sets me apart is that I utilize every part of my voice to create my tracks. Regarding my EP, I utilized my extended range, belting techniques, and knowledge of music genres to create a new element for each song. I think my extended knowledge of the human voice has allowed me to put my voice into different categories of music.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had quite a few supporters over the years! First and foremost, my family has always been supportive of my musical journey. They’ve provided love and care throughout the years and I couldn’t be more thankful. In addition, my high school creative art teachers, Tara Carrick and Melody Allen, encouraged me to pursue a career in music when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do.
Lastly, my friends, new and old, have always shown up for me whenever I need it. My hometown friends, Kylie and Makenna, have spent countless years with me and never neglect to show up to a performance. Likewise, my songwriting friend, Maverick (Big Mav), has continued to keep in touch with me as we continue our diverse paths in our shared language, music. My college support system consists of four truly remarkable singers who I share my struggles, successes, and life with on a daily basis. Donari, Mary Helen, Paige, and Ginger are inspiring individuals who are going to be the best of the best educators and performers of this generation.
