Inspiring Conversations with Artie Hamlett of Haul Star Moving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Artie Hamlett.

Artie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
“I started from the ground up with a vision to create something of my own. It wasn’t perfect in the beginning — a lot of trial and error, long days, and figuring things out as I went. But I stayed consistent, built relationships, and focused on delivering real value. That’s what helped me grow from just getting started to actually building a business that’s moving with purpose today. And I’m still pushing to take it to the next level.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had a situation early on where a deal worth around $10,000 went left because the experience didn’t meet my standards.
And I’ll be real — that one hurt. I had to go into my own pocket, clear out money I worked hard for, refund the client, and still complete the job just to make it right.
But I stand on doing business the right way. That moment taught me that your name and reputation are worth more than any one deal. It also showed me how important it is to have the right people around you and strong standards in place.
Since then, I’ve moved different — more structure, more accountability, and a higher level of professionalism across the board.”

As you know, we’re big fans of Haul Star Moving . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
“At our core, we’re a service-based company focused on delivering reliable, professional moving solutions with a strong emphasis on customer experience. We handle residential and commercial moves, and what we specialize in is making the process smooth, stress-free, and efficient from start to finish.
What really sets us apart is our level of accountability and the standards we operate by. We don’t just show up and move items — we focus on communication, respect for our clients’ belongings, and making sure every job is handled with care and professionalism. In an industry where consistency can be hit or miss, we pride ourselves on being dependable every time.
One thing I’m most proud of brand-wise is the reputation we’re building. We’ve made it a priority to stand on integrity, even when it costs us. There have been situations where we’ve gone above and beyond — even taking losses — just to make sure the client is taken care of and our name stays solid. That’s something you can’t fake, and it’s a big part of what defines us.
What I want people to know is that we’re not just another moving company. We’re building a brand that people can trust long-term — a company that values relationships, not just transactions. When you work with us, you’re getting a team that’s committed to doing things the right way, every time. Anybody can move boxes — we move with purpose, professionalism, and pride.”

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
“One thing that’s worked really well for me is being intentional about who I learn from. I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing mentor who’s been in business his entire life. Even though he’s not in the moving industry, the principles he’s taught me — discipline, decision-making, and how to think long-term — have been invaluable.
My advice for finding a mentor is not to just look for someone in your exact field, but to find someone who understands business at a high level and has real experience. Then show value — be consistent, be coachable, and actually apply what they teach you.
As far as networking, what’s helped me is building genuine relationships, not just looking for opportunities. I focus on how I can learn, how I can add value, and staying connected over time. A lot of growth comes from the conversations you have and the people you keep around you. The right mentor won’t just teach you what to do — they’ll teach you how to think.”
