Today we’d like to introduce you to The Thomas House 1894.
Hi The Thomas House, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started in 1894 when Steve and Susie Thomas purchased the farm of where The Thomas House sits today in all her restored glory. Gina Borron (Manager/operator and 4th generation) had a dream of keeping our family history alive and decided to piece back together the heart of our family. She restored our humble 1800 square foot cabin that we used to use as a haunted house when I, Peyton, was a young child. Restoring the cabin was just one small effort of being a steward of the land and keeping the soul of the property alive. It soon snowballed when a local friend of ours asked if they could host a small wedding in the front yard and it took off! Soon after that we were booking weddings, birthday parties, family reunions, corporate dinners. You name it. It was full circle moment for the owners of the land and my grandparents Loyce and Joyce Borron (3rd generation). Joyce recalled how much people always seemed to stop in when passing by and that the cabin had a certain draw about it that pulled people in. Which in return gave us the nickname, “the gathering place.” For 5 generations now people come from all over to gather at our quaint farm tucked away in the vast farm lands and rolling hill of west Tn. We are so grateful that Gina had the idea to restore our family’s heritage and that it turned into something beautiful that I, Peyton Beem (5th generation and communications/marketing manager), can share with the next generations to come. For example, like our newest member of the family and 6th generation, our 8 month old son Wyatt.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning and operating a busy is never smooth especially when doing so with family. However, we make it work and we love that we get to build something together and something that can give back to others We are grateful for the support we have received over the last 6 years in operating and our excited to grow our clientele and share this very special property with others. However, the hardest part for us so far, all weather incidents aside, is probably our most recent struggle when we had 3 of our barns on our property collapse due to the ice storm in January. Being that the venue sits on our families farm it is a working farm, therefore the work, fun, and unpredictable situations never stop, but it does keep us on our toes!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Although Memphis is not where The Thomas House 1894 resides, we are found just north east of Memphis down the historic Highway 100 in a quaint town called Decaturvile, Tn. We love Memphis and its rich history! We do pride ourselves with sharing the title of West, Tn with Memphis and cater many couples and welcome any celebration here at our venue that is just a short 1 1/2 hour scenic drive through the country side. Much like The Thomas House, if the walls of Memphis could talk I imagine we would hear some incredible stories. One thing we love most about our city of Decaturville is the support we receive. It is a true community and we are grateful to call it home.
