Meet Lillian Carter of Whitehaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lillian Carter.

Hi Lillian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am an event planner specializing in decorating and coordinating services, bringing elegance, creativity, and intentional design to every celebration I touch. My journey began in 2017, inspired by my very first event — the 65th birthday celebration for my mother. What started as a labor of love quickly grew into a passion for transforming spaces and creating unforgettable experiences.

Since then, I’ve continued to refine my craft, blending thoughtful planning with beautiful, cohesive décor. My signature style embraces harmony, warmth, and celebration — qualities that have become the heart of my brand.

Today, I’m proud to have expanded my vision with the opening of my event rental store in South Brook Town Center, a space designed to give clients access to high‑quality décor, stylish rentals, and everything needed to bring their events to life.

Every event I touch is guided by the same intention that started it all: creating meaningful moments that feel personal, polished, and unforgettable.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

The journey has been rewarding, but it hasn’t always been smooth. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of obstacles — and each one has shaped me into a stronger, more intentional

• Starting from scratch
When I planned my very first event — my mother’s 65th birthday — I had passion but not much else. No inventory, no team, no blueprint. I had to learn everything through hands‑on experience.
• Balancing creativity with business
As a designer, the creative side comes naturally. But running a business requires budgeting, pricing, contracts, logistics, and systems. Learning to balance both worlds took time and discipline.
• Growing without guidance
I had to figure out how to source décor, manage clients, build relationships, and create a brand that felt true to me.
• Investing in myself and my vision
Every upgrade — from décor pieces to software to opening my event rental store in South Brook Town Center — required courage and financial commitment. Growth meant taking risks.
• Staying consistent through life’s challenges
when motivation dipped, or when bookings slowed.I kept going, kept learning, and kept refining my craft.

My passion for transforming spaces, my love for celebrating people, and the joy I see on clients’ faces have always pushed me forward. Every challenge became a lesson, and every lesson helped me elevate my work.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What Sets Me Apart

What sets me apart is the way I blend creativity, intention, and genuine care into every event I touch. I don’t just decorate a space — I transform it with purpose, emotion, and attention to detail.

I bring beauty and structure together. My décor is thoughtful, cohesive, and elevated — but it’s also backed by organization, planning, and smooth execution.
• A journey rooted in love and authenticity
My very first event was my mother’s 65th birthday in 2017. That experience taught me that celebrations are personal, emotional, and meaningful — and I carry that same heart into every project.
• Intentional design, not just decoration
I focus on creating atmospheres that feel warm, elegant, and memorable. Every color, texture, and detail has a purpose.
• A personalized client experience
I listen deeply. I ask the right questions. I make sure every client feels seen, supported, and excited about their event.
• A full-service approach
With both decorating & coordinating services and my event rental store in South Brook Town Center, clients get convenience, quality, and a cohesive vision all in one place.
• Consistency, resilience, and growth
I built this business from scratch — no mentor, no blueprint, just passion and determination. That journey shaped me into someone who doesn’t cut corners, doesn’t rush the process, and doesn’t settle for “good enough.”
