Community Highlights: Meet Shannon Reed of The Simplified Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Reed.

Hi Shannon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my organization business five years ago, turning a lifelong love of creating order into something meaningful for others. From an early age, I found joy in simplifying spaces and helping things feel calm and functional. What began as a focus on home organization and decluttering has grown into a full-service experience. Today, in addition to transforming spaces, my business also supports clients through packing and moving—making life’s transitions smoother, less stressful, and thoughtfully organized from start to finish.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were moments of self-doubt, wondering if I could truly grow this into something sustainable, along with the physical and emotional demands of the work itself. Helping people declutter often means stepping into sensitive, sometimes overwhelming situations, which requires both energy and empathy.

As the business grew, so did the complexity—managing scheduling, expanding services, and eventually adding packing and moving brought new logistical challenges. Learning to juggle all of that while maintaining the quality and care I’m known for has been a constant balancing act, but one that’s helped shape the business into what it is today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What truly sets me apart is the way I connect with my clients. I understand that organization isn’t just about “stuff”—it’s personal. Every home tells a story, and I take the time to listen, build trust, and meet people exactly where they are, without judgment. My approach is compassionate and supportive, helping clients feel comfortable and even empowered throughout the process.

I also believe in making the experience as seamless as possible. I don’t just help declutter—I take the next steps with you. Whether it’s sorting, packing, or personally transporting items to donation, I handle the details so my clients don’t feel overwhelmed or stuck with unfinished tasks.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
More people are outsourcing organization, downsizing, and moving support, especially busy families and people going through life transitions.
